Married in Misty Mountain

I ran from my past, only to run straight into the one person I never expected help from.

Shenna
I can only run so far from my problems before I run out of gas–figuratively and literally. Misty Mountain, Colorado seems like as good a place as any to start a new life under a secret identity. It’s charming, scenic, and the locals are as patient and sweet as they can be to a clumsy newcomer with no marketable skills.
Hurley, the outdoor adventure guide I crash into at the general store, does not exhibit the small-town sweetness I’ve gotten used to. He instantly sees through my clever disguise and I fear he may out me to the whole town. Instead, Hurley proposes a quick solution to my problems. I’m so shocked, that I find myself saying yes before thinking it through.
Now, I’ve got an even bigger problem — I’m married to a grumpy, growly, overprotective loner who is doing his best to harsh my sunshine vibe.

Hurley
People in Misty Mountain say I have trust issues. Wouldn’t you, after being shunned from the cult you grew up in? They can say what they want. I’m good now. I have a thriving business guiding tourists on wildly expensive outdoor adventures. This career has helped me better myself and given me a sense of security, while also avoiding getting too attached to the locals. The past is the past, and it’s better if I don’t talk about myself.
But then the past comes crashing into me with the arrival of Shenna. Her ridiculous disguise can’t hide the obvious. She’s on the run, and I know why. I also know that when her past catches up with her, the both of us had better be ready. There’s only one way to make her problems go away without turning the whole town upside down: Shenna has to marry me.
I never intended to marry anyone, ever. But, I could do a lot worse than the clumsy, freckle-faced girl I used to know in school. And the more time I spend with Shenna, the more I realize I could not have married anyone more perfect for me.
