Snowed in with My Protector

FALLON
One of my earliest memories is of the scent of Mom’s perfume; it smelled like home. I had no idea how much one memory would shape my future; then I lost her, and everything changed. But it gave me a purpose and helped me find my dream job.
If I knew then, when I was starting my career, what I know now, I would have chosen a different perfumery to work for. I bought their public persona built upon ethically sourced materials and a strong stance against animal testing, but all it takes for everything to change, again, is for my boss to get sick. Becoming a whistleblower isn’t on my bucket list, but neither is running for my life.
My brother always told me to reach out to Higgins Security in Denver if I needed help. With men fueled by corporate greed after me, I’m in need of protection. The next thing I know, I’m on a mountain in a secluded cabin with a man who sets me on fire. I have no doubt that he’ll protect me from those who want me to disappear permanently, but who will protect my heart from Hutch?

HUTCH
I’m a man who doesn’t need much. I’ve gotten by just fine living alone on the mountain while doing occasional jobs which utilize the skills I learned while serving my country. There was a time when I had dreams, but the military changed me and made me what I am today. Now, all I am is a recluse with the need to protect.
When I get the call about a woman needing a place to disappear after blowing the whistle on her employer, I know my mountain will give her the reprieve she needs. What I could never have foreseen is Fallon, in all her intelligent, idealist glory. The mountain doesn’t feel big enough to hold us and the future that I desperately want to provide for her.

Someone is going to come for her because greed makes people violent and vicious. I’m more than prepared to protect my woman from whatever comes our way. Fallon is mine and I’m not going to let her go. Can I convince her to stay once the danger passes and the snow thaws?
