Bonded Beyond Regret

SAMUEL
Being the new Alpha for the Waning Moon Pack hasn’t been easy. Would it be easier with a Luna at my side? Of course, but that’s not going to happen. Not now. There was too much hate, corruption, and greed coursing through the old Alpha family. Their deaths were necessary to usher in a new path for the pack but required me to endure the loss of my mate.
The need to step into the role of Alpha and the guilt over the pain my sister had to endure, some of it by my hands, keeps my mind off the hole left behind from the loss of the mate bond. But I don’t miss the person my mate was helping me to become. Now I can work to make Waning Moon a place to belong.
When Nyx moves to the pack hoping for a fresh start after the loss of her mate, there’s a pull to her and her daughter I can’t explain. If only I deserve to have love, but I know the truth. Regret and devotion to the pack is all I have time for. But what if they need me just as much as I need them?

NYX
The only reason I’ve survived the last three years is because of my daughter. If not for Aisley, I wouldn’t have been able to go on. The regret of surviving while feeling like my mate’s loss is all my fault tries to drown me in darkness every day. He was my everything and I can’t imagine the void he left behind ever being filled.
I tried staying in the Silver Howler Pack, where my mate and I both grew up, but the strain of it was becoming unbearable. Being given the chance to start fresh in the Waning Moon Pack might give me a chance to heal a little. I never expected to meet Samuel, my new Alpha, and see the same pain and regret in his eyes that I feel every day even though our stories aren’t the same.
Aisley bonds with Samuel in a way that makes me yearn for something that can never be. We can’t go back and I’m not sure I can move forward. I don’t deserve to be free from the emptiness in my soul where my mate used to reside. But what if the only way to keep living is to let go and fight for love that I never expected to be blessed with?
