When Caleb Masters gets an invitation to attend the wedding of his ex-fiancé, he’s furious. Tillie cheated on him and he threw her out of his life. Why has she sent him an invitation?
Then he catches who she is getting married to – his arch nemesis Daly Foster. They have been enemies since the first day they met in kindergarten. Caleb gives the wedding invitation to his assistant to reply no thanks. But she tells him about the Wife For Agency. Maybe Caleb can take a beautiful woman on arm and show the wedding couple that he doesn’t care who got Tillie because he got himself a beautiful wife.
Cora Stephens is at a loss. She has just been evicted out of her apartment and lost her job on the same day. She definitely isn’t having a good day. She meets a friend for lunch and tells her what’s been going on. Her friend Jem tells her all about an agency that hires beautiful women out as wives when a wealthy man needs someone on his arm.
Cora thinks about it and says that she has nothing to lose, so she makes an appointment for that day. Two days later they call her and tell her they have a gentleman who needs a wife.She takes the job but isn’t expecting to walk into a room and find Caleb Masters sitting there. He’s her one true love, that she has never got over. She turns at the door, to leave.
Caleb stomps over to her and stops her in her tracks. “Hey Cora, fancy seeing you here, I usually see you in my dreams.”
Cora has to decide if she is going to take the job or not. But she doesn’t have anywhere else to go. This job will help her financially but also with somewhere to live for a few weeks.
Then Caleb surprises her. “I want a minimum period of two months.”
The owner of Wife for Hire stares at him and looks at her.
Looks like it’s decision time.
Will he break her heart again like he did all those years ago? Can she bear to be in a room with him? Will she be able to carry off that she is his wife?
