I never wanted to see Alaska.
I pictured it as just a snowy wasteland.
So, when my mom tells me that my stepdad booked us a trip to a remote location in Alaska for my birthday, I’m not exactly thrilled.
I’m actually kind of surprised, because my mom and I aren’t really close and we don’t normally celebrate my birthday.
I thought that maybe this trip was going to be a turning point.
