“Primrose looks good out there.” I smiled as she hooked her purse over her shoulder.

“She’s Katniss now.” She winked, and my cock twitched. “Where are we going to dinner?”

“Have you ever eaten at Four Kinds?” I glanced at her.

“Have you forgotten I’ve only lived in Los Angeles for two days?”

“Right.” I chuckled. “Sorry. Anyway, my cousin Sebastian owns it. It’s on the water and has amazing food. He also owns Emilia’s in downtown L.A. and Kind Brewhouse in Santa Monica.”

I pulled into the parking lot at Four Kinds, walked around the other side of the car, opened the door, and held out my hand.

“How gentleman-like of you.” Zoey smiled as she placed her hand in mine while I helped her from the car.

“I am a gentleman, and there’s a lot to like.” A smirk crossed my lips.

“That has yet to be determined, Mr. Kind.”

I chuckled as we walked into Four Kinds. Our waiter walked over after the hostess seated us at a table outside.

“Mr. Kind, it’s good to see you again.” Greg set down a loaf of bread and cherry butter on the table.

“And you as well, Greg.”

“What may I get you and the lovely lady to drink?”

“Zoey?” I gestured.

“I’ll have a cosmopolitan.”

“And a scotch, 17 years, for me.” I smiled. “You have to try this bread and cherry butter.” I cut a slice, spread the butter, and handed it to her.

I watched her face as she bit into the bread and smiled.

“Oh, my God.”

“Right?” I chuckled.

I looked over and saw Alex heading toward our table with our drinks.

“Hey, you.” I smiled.

“Hi, Carter. I knew when someone ordered a scotch, 17 years, it had to be one of you.”

“Alex, this is Zoey Morgan. Zoey, this is Alex, Stefan’s wife.”

“Hi, nice to meet you.” Zoey extended her hand.

“It’s nice to meet you too, Zoey. Stefan is really excited to get started on your bakery. That’s great you’re opening up next to Mojo Madness. It’ll do amazing there.”

“Thanks. I hope so.”

“You two enjoy your dinner. I have to get back to the bar. It was great meeting you.” Alex smiled.

After Greg took our dinner order, I held up my scotch.

“Here’s to new friends, new businesses, and finding out who’s ripping off Sterling Capital.”

A beautiful smile crossed her lips as she lightly clanked her glass against mine.
