The corners of his mouth curved upward as he left my office.

When I arrived home, I threw my keys on the island, grabbed a bottle of water from the refrigerator, and went upstairs to change. As I pulled my shirt over my head, I heard the doorbell ring. Running down the stairs, I was shocked when I opened the door and saw Zoey standing there.

“Carter?” Her brows furrowed. “What are you doing here?”

“I live here. What are you doing here?”

“I’m supposed to be meeting Sam and Stefan. This is the address Shaun gave me. This isn’t Sam’s house?”

God, I loved my cousin.

“No. This is my house. Come on in for a second. Shaun must have accidentally given you my address instead of Sam’s.”

“Why would he do that?” She stepped inside.

“It was probably by accident. You know he’s not thinking clearly after what happened today.”

“Wow. Your house is really nice.” She looked around. “Wait a second.” She turned and looked at me. “You live on the beach too?”

“Yes. The whole Kind family does. On our way down to Sam’s, I’ll show you who lives where.” I smiled. “We call this Kind Beach.”

“And how many Kinds are there?” she asked.

“Well, there’s my brothers Gabriel and Grayson. Then my cousins, Shaun, Simon, Sebastian, Stefan, Sam, Conner, Jackson, Nathan, and Christian.”

“Seriously?” Her head cocked.

“Yeah.” I chuckled. “Come on. I’ll take you down to Sam’s house.” I opened the sliding door.

I pointed out each house as we walked down to Sam’s. Opening the sliding door, we stepped inside.

“You just walk in like this?” Zoey asked.

“Yeah. That’s how it works around here.” I grinned. “Hey, Julia.”

“Carter.” She smiled as she walked over, holding Elijah. “You must be Zoey.” She handed Elijah to me and gave Zoey a hug. Shaun said that you’re leasing the building next to my coffee shop. It’s so good to meet you.”

“It’s good to meet you too, Julia. Your baby is adorable.”

“Thank you. I’ll let Sam know you’re here. He’s upstairs with the twins.”

As soon as Julia walked away, Zoey glanced at me.

“Twins?”

“Yeah. Twin girls. Lorelei and Lena.”

The sliding door opened, and Stefan walked in.

“Hey, my man,” he said as we fist-bumped.

“Stefan, this is Zoey. Zoey, my cousin Stefan.”

“It’s nice to meet you, Zoey. So, I hear you want to open a bakery.” He grinned.

“I do.” Her lips gave way to a beautiful smile as she shook his hand.

Sam and Julia walked into the kitchen. Sam introduced himself to Zoey, and Julia took Elijah from me.
