"Come on up, I'm almost ready," she said.

"Okay." I pushed open the door and headed to the lift so I could get to the penthouse. Jaunty music played as it passed the other floors and came to a stop at the top floor.

The lift pinged and I stepped into a well lit hallway. The door at the other end swung open and Aphie smiled. "Come in," she said, beckoning to me.

I made my way past her, only for her to put out her hand to stop me and go up on her toes to kiss me on the cheek.

"Hi," she said, sounding a little breathless.

"Hey," I responded.

"I'll just be a minute, I was looking for the right shoes to go with this dress." She gestured down at it.

I followed her hand, my mouth going a little dry at the sight. I wasn't sure precisely what kind of dress it was, but the material clung to her in a way that made me want to take it off her. "You look amazing." My voice cracked as I said the words.

"Thanks. Am I dressed right for where we're going? I realised I should have asked, but by the time I thought of that, you were almost here."

"You might be a little overdressed," I admitted.

She stepped inside her penthouse and led me into an open-plan kitchen. Everything shimmered in a way that suggested it was newly installed, or whoever cleaned the kitchen knew exactly what they were doing in terms of keeping it looking that way.

Considering everything Aphie had told me about herself, I was going to guess it was the latter.

"Okay, so a new outfit is needed," she mused. "Where are we going?"

"There's a fair in town, I thought we'd go there." Now I was saying it out loud, it sounded like a bad idea. She was gorgeous, and rich, and super smart, there was no way she'd want to go to a fun fair.

All of those thoughts fled the moment her eyes lit up. "Really?"

"Yes. I mean, if that's okay. We can go somewhere else if you prefer..."

"Definitely not. The fair sounds great, I've never actually been."

"Never?"

She shook her head. "I mean, I guess I went to some festivals back in Greece, and since. But not a fair like the one here. But I should change first." She paused. "Do you want a drink while you wait?"

"I'm okay, we can get something once we're there."

She nodded enthusiastically. "All right, back in a minute." She disappeared out of the door and into what I assumed was her bedroom, though I was trying not to give that too much consideration.

At least I'd judged the situation right when it came to the right kind of date to take her on. I figured that everyone would try and take her to fancy dinners and exclusive shows. But this was a woman who found pleasure in eating gyros in a fancy dress. A fun fair seemed like exactly the kind of date she'd like.

Thoughts of the night before crept back in almost immediately, not that they'd ever been very far from my mind. Kissing her had been intense, and left me thinking about it all night, and most of today.

"What do you think?" she asked.

I looked up, seeing that she'd reappeared in the door. I raked my gaze over her, enjoying the form-fitting skinny jeans and shirt combination she'd chosen. She looked just as good as in the formal clothing, but it was in a different way. I could see how people would just look past her thinking she was a normal good-looking woman rather than stopping in their tracks because she was an ethereal goddess.

Which was good for me, because otherwise I had no idea how I'd be able to manage a whole day in her presence.

"Damien?"

"Sorry, I was lost in thought. You look great."

She beamed. "Good, because I have the perfect pair of boots I've been dying to wear but haven't had the opportunity to."

"Even at one of your fancy events?"
