I was dumbfounded because I was thinking the same about him. If there were a biker magazine that wanted the perfect specimen of an MC President for their cover, it would be Legend. God had designed this man to have power over women and make other men envious—and want to be better. I’d witnessed it.

Plus, Legend’s incredible model-like features were enhanced by an inner strength that would make the strongest of us willingly buckle to his demands. Haunting greys placed perfectly to read your soul. A thinner nose that let his strong cheek bones set the precedence over a stunning jaw. That jaw was shadowed by a trim greying goatee I wanted to feel brush against my face and… inner thighs.

Unable to stop myself, I licked my lips. I didn’t want words anymore. I wanted to taste this creature who made parts of me spark to life.

Being the soul reader he was, his mouth gaped while staring at mine. “Once I start—”

Shamelessly, I was already nodding, silently begging for him to let me be the one to pull him from the grips of sorrow from which he deserved to be set free. There was no way a woman who owned his heart, like Charmaine, would want this superb animal caged up for the rest of his life.

When Legend didn’t move his face closer to mine, I told him love was a gift, not a death sentence to live by. His suffering wasn’t her wish.

His exhales were as labored as his inhales while he took hold of my head with massive hands. One clutching the side, the other supporting the back. Taller than me, even when sitting, he tilted my head back and paused, his mouth hovering over mine.

Even though I was panting as hard as he, I didn’t move. This wasn’t my leap to take. Legend had to be the one to jump.

Gasping, he tried to speak. “I… What if…”

Still not moving my body, nor our locked gazes, I simply asked, “What if this is your only chance to feel again?”

“It’s been so long.”

“Or long enough,” I whispered.

Without warning, his eyes glossed over and showed the madness he had held within since the moment he realized she’d been killed.

I felt a chill with only a mere glimpse of the cold side of him.

The deadly side of him.

Then, as quickly as it had come, the violent storm passed. I could feel mental shackles breaking free of his self-punishment when he asked me, “Would it hurt you to tell her how much I love her?”

I had never been so honored in my life. And told him so.

As if I were the portal for him to speak to his wife, who was now in another realm, Legend’s eyes watered with agony… and hope. “I will never stop loving you. I’m only alive for our kids.”

Mystically, my chest expanded with the spiritual breeze that filled them. My eyes slid shut as I promised him, “She heard you.”

His lips held no judgment or doubt of my words. They blessed me with a gratitude I felt in my bones and beyond. I didn’t open my eyes in the beginning. I wanted this once-in-a-lifetime experience as pure as possible, and that was taking it all in blind. That was how I could hear his tears. I could feel his love. Even though it wasn’t for me, I knew he was thankful I was there, able to create a bridge to his lost lover one more time.

The religious part of me knows she was with us for a while. There were three of us in a kiss so powerful it would last forever.

As she left us to be on our own, Legend sensed it. Lips to lips, he whispered, “Thank you,” several times as emotions built even higher. Then he softly wept, “I felt her.”

Wrapping my arms around his mid-section, I cried with him, swearing we had just experienced a miracle.

His firm chest pressed against mine as he laid me down. “You’ve made me believe again.”

So brave. So willing to believe, even when there was no explanation. Only faith.

What a testament to a love that once was, and always would be.

I now understood his road name. This marvelous man was truly a legend to me, too.

Wanting every part of him I was granted, I pulled a borrowed t-shirt over my head as I expressed how I would never forget him.

The next time his mouth possessed mine, I sensed I was now his focus.

Completely.
