“I was starting to think the same. This is the third time this week. You joining my fan club?”

She tilts her head, amusement lining her features. “Would you have many members in your fan club?”

“Not sure. I'll get you added to the newsletter, you can find out.”

She scoffs a laugh, face turning serious. “But seriously, do I need to be worried?”

“Well you’re currently standing in my place of business, so unless you plan on setting the place on fire or beating up other patrons, I think we’ll be okay.”

“Oh, you own this too?” She says dramatically. I nod. She makes a show of looking surprised and does it far too well. “Christ, you're a busy boy, aren't you? What is it, Big shot executive by day? Club owner by night? Insurance scammer at the weekend?” She’s funny.

“I’ll just introduce myself shall I?” Her little blonde friend interrupts, pulling my attention away and reminding me that there are in fact other people in the room. “I’m Hannah.” Hannah looks like a pixie. All bright sunshine smiles and blonde fluffy hair.

The still unnamed girl turns to her friend with a mildly displeased face. “This is the man that damaged my car.” Pauses to look me up and down with clear distaste. “He's an insurance scammer.”

Her friend remains unfazed and gives me an assessing look before nodding to her as if I’m not here. “You were right, he is hot.”

I clear my throat with slight smug satisfaction and shake Hannah's outstretched hand. “Enzo.”

Hannah nods her head to her friend. “Cas told me you saved her the other night. That was very nice of you.” Cas.

Casrolls her eyes. “Oh don't thank him, he's clearly got a saviour complex. He’s one of these that comes in but doesn't actually pay for your time. Instead he ‘wants to take care of you’ so you don't have to work anymore because it's such a horror that a woman should work in the sex industry of her own free will.” This girl has a real flare for dramatics.

The corner of my mouth pulls up and I raise my eyebrows, it seems to make her a little less angry and more amused. “I think you're projecting,” I tell her.

Her back stiffens as she stares me down. Her friend links their arms in a comforting gesture. “Don’t bite the poor guy's head off.” She says in a soft tone. Hannah leans a bit closer to me and I can smell the alcohol on her. “She can be a bit touchy when it comes to her independence.”

I let out a breath of amusement, turning my attention back to the angry girl. “So just to be clear, because I stopped someone from physically assaulting you, that means I want to take care of you financially?”

Her eyes sharpen but in a way that makes me think she enjoys this just as much as I do. “I know your type. I deal with you daily. You walk into a strip club, refuse to pay for the girl's time because ‘it’s beneath you’ and your ego couldn’t possibly allow you to think that someone of your calibre would have to pay for a woman’s company. Then you proceed to look down on us for the job we do even though you walked in there in the first place.” Her friend nudges her shoulder in reprimand but Cas doesn’t even look at her. “You’ll tell them that you believe they could do better than this job, that you could look after them, make them a stay-at-home girlfriend because you think women need saving and that’s your job to do so.” She gives me a blank stare.

Her friend groans at the floor like she does this all the time. “Bloody hell.”

I scoff a laugh and cock my head, eyes bright. “You got all that from me saying maybe ten words to you?”

She shrugs. “It’s an observation.”

“Why would I try and take you out of the club when you’re one of the best earners? You make me money.”

She laughs disbelievingly and I imagine she’s about to start a whole new rant but is cut off just when the new DJ bounds over. He wraps his arms around her blonde friend lifting her up and spinning her round. “There you are, I was getting worried.” He looks at me and his head pulls back in surprise. “And you’ve already met Enzo? This is his club. I was just about to go find you both to introduce you.”

I smile smugly at Cas and wink. “Enzo Moretti.” I hold my hand out for a handshake. Her mouth parts and she lets out a weird half-laugh then a grimace like she's internally cursing herself but still, albeit a little reluctantly, slips her small hand into mine. “Casimira Dabrowski”

I swear there’s a slight electric current the moment our hands meet and a shiver sparks at the base of my spine.

Her friend pats her arm in a very condescending manner. “This is when you apologise to the nice man.”

She lets out an exaggerated ‘Hah.’ Turning back to her friend with annoyance flickering in her eyes.

James clears his throat looking between the three of us with uncertainty. “Urm, I’m on in ten, so I’m just going to go downstairs and get set up.” He nods to me, turning back to his girl and dipping his head. “Meet you in a bit?”

“I’ll come backstage halfway through for some promo.” Hannah wraps her arms around him and whispers something in his ear.

I look back to Casimira to catch her already looking at me, sharp eyes cataloguing my appearance with a slight frown. Luca comes walking up, his eyes rake over her body appreciatively and for some reason, I don’t like it. I haven’t had her yet, he can wait. I give him a pointed glare which he returns with a slightly confused frown and leans in to murmur in my ear, “Benny just arrived, he's trashed.” My jaw ticks. Our youngest brother is becoming the most difficult teenager. He's away during the week at school and I insist he comes home on the weekends so I can see him but he's too interested in drinking with his friends and just causing me fucking headaches.

I turn back to the girls. “I’ve got to go deal with something but have a good night.” I turn away before they can respond so I can deal with my idiot brother, but I plan on seeing her again before the end of the night.
