Skylar closed her eyes, rested her head on the back of the chair and let the massage settings work into her sore muscles as she tried to fit the pieces of the night before together. After Dyllan had pulled her off to the bar, the night became a bit of a blur. She knew that she’d drunk more than she would have ever normally considered but given the circumstances and the proximity to the burly grump, she felt justified in needing to have a bit more liquid courage to deal with her company.

There was the encounter with the bartender and the names of drinks. Her body heated, embarrassment flooding her system as she recalled how that transpired.

There was the sexy way he looked at her as they argued. His fierce tenderness when she told him about Adam and Ashley. Even though they’d spent most of their time knowing each other fighting, there was a protectiveness that exuded from him when she told him about her past.

After that, she didn’t remember much. Flashes of walking down the hotel hallways. How loud it all was as they walked through the casino, people cheering at tables as they walked past.

Skylar froze.

That’s it. I remember it now.

Her mind raced as she put together the events that happened as they left the bar and made their way through the casino.

“Oh, Dyllan, look! A roulette table!” Skylar started to pull Dyllan off to the side.

“No, no way. I’m not letting you bet your money after you’ve been drinking that much.” His speech was a little slow, and he wasn’t as sure on his feet as he had been earlier in the night.

“Oh, come on. Don’t be a spoilsport. Just one time.”

“No.” Dyllan stood his wobbly ground, crossing his arms over his chest.

“Come on, Grumpy Bear. We’re in Vegas. Don’t tell me you don’t want to gamble just once while you’re here. It’s what you do!”

“What have I told you about calling me that?” He looked as if he meant to narrow his eyes at her, but it turned into some sort of smouldering pout.

“What have I told you about acting like a grumpy bear and being called a grumpy bear?” An overly cocky smile crossed her face as she swayed on her heels.

Dyllan grunted in response.

“Look, just because you grunt like Henry Cavill doesn’t excuse you for ignoring my statement.”

“Stop comparing me to him, too. I’m nothing like him.”

“No, he’s an attractive, talented actor who just happens to have a sexy grunt.” Skylar swayed as Dyllan went a little blurry.

“So,” Dyllan said, stepping toward her and snaking his arm around her back. “You think my grunt is sexy?” He gave her a sly smile that sent heat rushing to her core, but she ignored it. She would not let him turn her on right now.

“Maybe.” She looked over his shoulder, attempting to look like his body pressed against hers had no effect on her whatsoever.

“What else of mine do you think is sexy?” He dipped down and ran the tip of his nose along the column of her neck.

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” Skylar did her best to hold still, resisting the urge to put her hands on his shoulders and draw him closer. She suppressed the urge to moan and give into the goosebumps that trailed along where he touched her.

“I’ll make you a deal. One round of roulette. We each place a bet. If I win, you tell me the parts of me that you think are sexy.”

“And if I win?” She smiled up at him, loving that she was having just as much of an effect on him as he was having on her. That is, if the hard length pressing into her belly had anything to say about it.

“What do you want, Babydoll?” He growled in her ear.

“We get married.”

Dyllan snapped back, nearly dropping her. “What?”

“We get married,” she breathed, looking into his eyes. “Come on, it’s so ridiculous. Neither of us is going to win. Might as well make it something so outlandishly crazy. Really up the stakes.”

He looked at her for a long moment before closing the distance between them again. “Fine. If you win, we get married. If I win, I’m changing my answer to you letting me take you to bed. Letting me show you just how hard I can ride you. Ruin you for all other men. I want you to see what you’re missing when you return to those pussy city boys and know that they’ll never be able to fuck you like a country boy.”

Skylar’s breath caught in her throat at his words. She wanted that more than anything. She wanted to know what it would be like to have just one night with him. She had no doubt that he would ruin her for all other men. That she wouldn’t be able to go back to anyone in the city knowing exactly what it was like to spend a night with Dyllan Thompson. “You’re on.”
