“Hey fucker,” I shouted the moment I saw Carbon slouching against the door, looking like an idiot given that two of our best were guarding it. “On your feet, we’re taking a ride.”

“Nope.”

Carbon sat with his arms draped over his knees as he watched the closed door across from him.

“Did I fucking stutter?” I towered over him. His gaze flicked up to my own, his eyes dark and hollow, before they floated back to the door. Goddess was fucking my brother up good, all right. “We’re paying a personal visit to a few of our esteemed guests' loved ones.”

“What you talking about, Prez?” he mumbled. “Loved ones are all loaded up in the van with Bulletproof and his mates. What’s left ain’t loved.”

“Sarcasm, wolf, look it up.” I grabbed him by the scruff of his shirt and pulled him to his feet. “But later ‘cause we’re moving out. Just you, me and Mongrel.”

“That’s my mate in there, alpha. I can’t—won’t—leave her.”

“Even if she never wants you?” I had to ask, though I knew the answer.

“Even then,” he replied, his eyes blazing furiously.

“Good. Winter is safe here, Carbon. She’s pack now.” I pushed him in front of me, herding him down the hallway to the stairs. “But her parents might not be too happy after we pay them a visit.”

I watched the news sink in as the Goddess pulled on the warrior within.

“I’m in,” my brother snarled. “Let me get some toys.”

“No ball gags this time, yeah?”

I did not need my Enforcer leaving sex toys around Chaos Valley for punishment as we worked our way through the assholes who’d sold their own into the skin trade. Not exactly the message we were looking to send.

Carbon sighed, long and heavy. “There you go again, Prez. Ruinin’ my fun.”

GONE HUNTING

Mongrel

I looked at the list Silver and Popcorn had collected for us. Only about half of our guests would be reunited with their families. That meant only half of them had a place to go home to. It made my stomach sick.

Addy and Talia had been living on the streets, for fucksake. Snatched right off the curb in broad daylight. No one had lifted a finger to help. Robbie and Jimmy, too. And, then there were those poor souls whose own rat bastard family members had sold them—sold people—to animals.

Like my Sasha. Sold to the Bone Crushers MC—and Gods knew what treatment she’d been subjected to there—all so her fucking uncle could make a dime.

One thought latched onto another and rage swirled in my soul thinking of all the countless horrors that had rained down on those humans. Winter’s broken form, swaying in front of the burning inferno, enraged my beast.

The Chaos wasn’t helping the animal in my gut settle, that was for damned sure. I thought mating Silver would calm me down some, but it only seemed to deepen the urge to claim the mate I was neglecting.

Well, not today.

Today, I would exact revenge. I would be a warrior of the Blood Moon Goddess, taking her pound of flesh from those too piss weak to deserve her blessing.

Today, I would earn my position as Sgt. at Arms.

Because the humans we left back at our clubhouse with nowhere to go? They weren’t our fucking guests, not anymore. They were pack. Family. Whether they chose to stay with us long term or only until they found their feet, they were mine to protect.

Especially Sasha.

I handed the list over to Prez as soon as he came out of the clubhouse with Carbon in tow, then grinned at my brother who looked like he was fixing to bleed some bastards. The Enforcer’s eyes had gone cinnamon brown and the Blood Moon Goddess’s rage was transforming his every move into the promise of liquid death. He mounted his bike, hands stuffed in his pockets and sat for a long moment before turning to face me.
