Mongrel was giving Sasha a reassuring pat on the back.

At the casual contact, a sudden blast of desire licked through our mating bond and it wasn’t aimed at me. I sucked in a shuddering breath as Sasha arched into that simple contact, despite the anger riding her frame. My beta leaned close and murmured something in her ear which had Sasha’s eyes dancing with renewed determination.

Our mate turned on her heel and stalked after our alpha.

A thrill shivered down my spine at that tiny taste of the spicy intensity Mongrel and Sasha shared. Now that was the kind of spice a wolf could get used to.

“Give him hell, kitten,” I growled, smacking her on the ass as she walked by. The look my mate gave me as she marched on was all the hope I needed to get back to the task at hand. “Alright folks, you got the rules?”

“Still don’t know what we win, wolf,” Addy smirked.

“We’ll get to that, sweetheart. If you win.”

The girl’s eyes sparkled as the challenge landed and the heat of moments before was forgotten.

Today was going to be a busy day for both the Soul Reapers and our guests. No reason we couldn’t have a little fun while we got to it, though. I nodded to Popcorn and Strawberry who grabbed a pen and paper. They started making the rounds, chatting up the humans and jotting down the information we needed to pass on to the boys.

I winked at the incorrigible street rat. “But I promise to make it worth your while.”

“Oh, you’re so on, omega.”

KITTEN ATTACK

Grimm

I could feel the woman chasing my steps. The little hairs on the back of my neck stood on end as she closed in on my position. Her approaching anger drove me to distraction. The little alpha yanked open my door and strode right into my office, slamming it for the second time.

Great, so now the entire MC knows she didn’t even bother to knock.

Sasha threw herself down on one of the chairs across from my desk and scowled at me, crossing her arms over her chest. Her chin jutted out, belligerently. “I want to go with you.”

“We’ll get your people home safely, I assure you.” I pulled out my cell and tossed it onto my desk as I sat down, then folded my own arms across my chest.

“Oh, I’m sure your wolves will have no trouble getting the few of us who have homes safely to their families,” she sneered.

Infernal woman isn’t even grateful.

She kicked a foot up on my desk, the long legs of the jeans she’d borrowed from one of the female members of the pack hugged her body like a second skin. A sliver of her ankle peeked out from between the hem and her flats looking delectable. I forced myself to keep looking her in the eye.

“Then I’m not sure what you mean.”

I leaned back and tapped a cigarette out of the pack in my top drawer and raised a brow, daring her to say something. I could see it on her face. She wanted to tell me not to light up. Sasha sniffed and squared her shoulders. Picking her battles.

So, it’s like that, is it?

“I want to go with you when you have a special talk with some of the less savory family members.”

Her gaze never left mine as I flicked my zippo to life and touched it to the end of my cigarette, though her nose wrinkled in disdain. The paper and tobacco sizzled and cracked as it ignited.

“No.” I relished the fire igniting in her eyes as I blew out a long stream of smoke and dropped the lighter onto my desk.

“What do you mean, no?” she snapped with a cute-as-fuck little growl to back it up.

And damn, point to the human, ‘cause my entire body woke up at that tiny sound.

“I mean no,” I snarled back, leaning forward in my chair. I let my dominance—the dominance I’d been holding back out of respect so as not to scare her or her people—unleash into the room. “You may not come with me.”
