I jogged over to where Grimm stood, already astride his bike. He flicked the butt of his cigarette away as I joined him. “Something on your mind, omega?”

His eyes softened as he looked at me. They always did. But my Prez might not be thinking such gentle thoughts if he knew I was having impure thoughts about his soon-to-be Old Lady.

“They’re a bit jittery about Carbon driving, alpha.”

I shrugged like it didn’t matter to me, but my gut was churning. I wanted to be the one driving that van when it had my unclaimed mate on board.

“That so?” Grimm glanced at Carbon, who was still staring like a creeper at Winter through the window, then drawled, “Can’t imagine why.”

I chuckled as Prez dismounted, smacked my shoulder and whistled for Carbon to join him.

“Hand them over.” Grimm held his hand out, beckoning for the keys. “Silver’s driving.”

“What? Why?!” Carbon snarled, giving me a filthy look. I shrugged it off. He would be begging for comfort later. And with the way Winter was off in her own little world, pretending the rest of us didn’t exist—not even her own mate—he was gonna need it. “Grimm, it's my van.”

“What are the rules, wolf?” Grimm growled, his eyes flashing dangerously at being challenged.

Carbon blew out a breath, his head hanging in shame, as he repeated our unofficial motto. “The needs of women, children and omegas come first.”

“And what does that mean?” Prez prompted.

“It means I shut my trap and take Silver’s bike home, alpha.”

At Grimm’s nod, I kept my eyes downcast and trotted up alongside them. Wouldn’t do to let on that my wolf was howling in triumph at being the one to drive our mate home.

We exchanged keys. I wasn’t overly pleased that someone else would be riding my baby, but I swallowed it down. Carbon was a good rider. If I gave her some extra love after, no one had to know but me. And Mongrel.

“How come he calls you Prez and alpha, but calls me boss?” Mongrel grumbled as he hooked an arm over my shoulders, pulling me back against his thick chest.

I sighed in relief and this time I relished the way my cock strained harder against the zip of my jeans. Goddess, all I wanted to do was beg my mate to take me and then everything would be right with this crazy world again.

“‘Cause you're Sgt. at Arms and I’m Prez. You tell him what to do at work, I tell him what to do in life.”

“So how come when I tell him to stop calling me boss—at work—he won’t?”

My mate’s deep voice rolled through me, and I had to stop myself from pressing my hips back against his hard cock where it prodded at my ass. The humans didn’t need to see us getting hot and heavy out in the open when we’d just rescued them.

Slow, I reminded myself. Gotta take this slow.

“‘Cause I told him not to,” Grimm laughed, tapping out a cigarette and lighting up his Zippo with a flick of his wrist.

“You are such an asshole.”

“What?” Prez’s eyes danced with mirth as he drew smoke into his lungs. “I think it’s fucking hilarious.”

“Fuck you, man.”

Mongrel’s arm tightened possessively around my shoulders and his other landed on my hip, tugging me off balance and into his center of gravity. His feet shuffled impossibly closer, caging me in from behind. My wolf howled inside my chest, loving the touch of our mate. Feasting on his desire and his display of ownership.

“Gotta get my jollies somewhere,” Grimm shrugged as he grinned at us. “Now, take that shitstain for the ride of his life.”

Grimm punched Mongrel’s shoulder. I shivered. My mate didn’t move an inch, even though I could feel the weight of our alpha’s contact. That had been an order and my mate always followed orders.

Sure, Mongrel was dominant as fuck, but he willingly bowed to his oldest friend. It was just the way things were. Now, with Sasha in the mix, I wondered if their loyalty would be tested.

“All right, omega. Hop to it.” Grimm looked through the windows to where the humans were shoved inside like sardines.

Should have bought another van, I shrugged. Hindsight.
