Christian. Having a doctor in the family certainly came in handy. New mom anxiety meant that I panicked whenever she ran a fever or her poop didn’t look right, but I knew I could call on Doc and he would be there in a second. If he didn’t know something because it wasn’t in his wheelhouse, he knew who to call and who could give us the answers we needed. He made sure our baby was as healthy as could be, and he quickly became an expert in newborn health.

Each and every one of my men stepped up to the plate and brought their unique abilities and skills to help with our child. And she was ours—we knew that a DNA test could give us the answer as to who was the biological father, but we had come to an agreement that it didn’t matter. We didn’t care to know. There might come a day when her features would give away who the father was but for now, they were all Dad. They had been discussing what to call themselves since having all of them being called Dad could get confusing. They had a point but every time I looked at Alice, I could see all of them within her. At times I saw Sean’s eyes or Reed’s smile, Gage’s grumpiness when she was overtired and Christian’s curiosity. I hoped that it would always be that way—I loved being able to say, “Look, Bash, she looks just like you,” while being able to say the same to Anthony two minutes later. And none of them minded. We all loved her more than life itself.

And when the guys joked about having more kids, well, I can’t deny the idea appealed to me. Knowing that I had this loving, large family around me, the thought of having more children actually seemed feasible.

We could grow our family even larger, one baby at a time, and I had no doubt we would continue to live happily ever after in our beautiful mountain resort.

Snow

Two years later

Ilaid back on the table, my shirt lifted up to expose my growing belly. The doctors had said that only two people could be with me in the room, which made it hard for the ones who couldn’t join in. I’m not sure how they determined who would be at my side for the reveal, they must’ve flipped a coin or drew straws, , but Gage and Reed had come out on top.

Gage and Reed were on one side of the table, Gage holding my hand, with Reed beside him. The room was a little cramped, I had a feeling that when the doctor said I could have two people he didn’t realize they would be two giant men. The doctor’s eyes widened when he came into the room, but he kept any thoughts to himself.

He squeezed the cold jelly onto my belly and began moving the wand around. I craned my neck to see the screen, hoping for any hint as to whether Alice would be getting a little sister or a little brother.

“Everything looks very good,” the doctor said.

Reed let out a sigh of relief.

“The heartbeats are strong—”

“Wait, did you say heartbeats? As in plural?” I laughed, thinking I had to have heard him wrong.

“Mmm-hmm,” the doctor confirmed, turning the screen so I could see it better. “Here you go, this is baby one, and this is baby two.”

“So I’m having twins?” I said.

“Yes, it appears so, unless there’s a third hiding back there,” the doctor laughed, signaling it was a joke.

“Twins do not run in my family, is it common for this to happen when there have only been single births on both sides?”

The doctor lowered his glasses and looked at me for a second. “Well, being the first woman in the family to have twins... it has to start somewhere, right?” He smiled. “This is your second pregnancy and no two pregnancies are the same, especially in your case. You’ll need to be a little extra mindful, you’re carrying two passengers this time.”

My heart was racing. The last pregnancy had been tough, mostly because I didn’t know what all to expect but I had the support of my men. I knew they would take good care of me again, and our babies.

“Twins.” Gage muttered, as if the words finally sank in.

Reed looked like he might pass out. He was always so nervous that something would happen to me or to Alice, I could only imagine what was going through his mind now that he had two babies to worry about. I reached over and took his hand in mine. “It’s going to be alright, we got this,” I said.

The doctor put the wand back on my belly and pointed out the sex of the two babies—a boy and a girl.

“Everything looks to be coming along perfectly, and Mom is young and healthy. While twins are always a higher risk, I think that everything is going to be just fine,” the doctor said. “Though Mom and Dad will likely have their hands full.”

The doctor noticed I was holding Gage’s hand, when I had just been holding Reed’s only moments ago. He seemed curious about it but shook his head as if deciding it was none of his business.

“We got this,” I said again, anxiety turning into joy. Two more beautiful babies. Alice was perfect, and we were all so very happy with our lives. It was why we decided to try for another baby. We knew we had plenty of love to give, and we definitely had plenty of hands to help out. Three children, all under the age of three might be tough, but I knew that my guys and I would be the best parents to all three of them and love them unconditionally.

My writing career had taken off, and while I wouldn’t be able to travel much during the pregnancy—especially carrying twins—I had plenty of articles lined up for the next few months and my column about life at the resort with my seven men was getting more and more popular by the day. I knew that being pregnant with twins would only increase the popularity.

I was smiling so much, my cheeks hurt.

Twins. Three kids. I always wanted a big family since I didn’t have one of my own, but I never could have imagined my life to become what it had.

The guys were all waiting for us in the parking lot of the clinic, and as soon as we stepped out, they crowded around and were eager to find out information about the baby. They still thought there was only one.
