All of the bosses were leaning against separate walls, with different weapons, a baseball bat for Nixon and a knife for Sergio. Chase was currently wrapping his knuckles with tape. Tex sat in a chair at the front of the room with a metal desk in front of him that looked like something people did surgery on.

Ropes hung from the ceiling. Dante grabbed one of them and started making knots with it. Phoenix stood behind us with his gun.

And in the middle of the room was Andrei. “As head of this Family, you have the unanimous vote of being able to marry my baby sister—”

I exhaled.

“But first, can you recite to me the rules of the Cosa Nostra?”

Santino still held my hand. “I’m expecting you want to hear that one of the main rules is blood is everything and that you never look at another man’s wife, but she’s your—” He shook his head. “I get what you’re wanting me to say.” Santino nodded and cleared his throat. “That I took something I was warned not to take, and I did it under your roof, under the guise of her protection, so I broke one of the main rules of the Cosa Nostra. For that, I apologize.”

“And when you break a rule?” Tex stood and pressed his ringed hands to the metal table. “What are the consequences.?

Santino hung his head. “Painful.”

“Very.” Nixon stepped forward with his bat. “But Andrei’s extending kindness to you today. He won’t kill you. We’ll welcome you into this Family with loving arms—but you still have to be punished. Three punishments will be enough, now choose how you want to get punished.”

Santino looked around the room.

They were all horrible choices, and I still didn’t know what the rope one was about!

I stepped forward. “This is ridiculous! I’m the one to blame. Let me take it; I’ll take whatever you want to give me.” I held my chin high and locked eyes with my brother. “Hurry and get it over with.”

Andrei tilted his head. “You’d take one of his punishments?”

“I—” I gulped. “I need him.”

“Even after being raped, tortured, abused, yelled at, you would take this monster’s arms and let him wrap them around you and, on top of that, take a punishment on his behalf?”

A hot tear fell from my cheek onto the floor. “Yes.”

“He doesn’t deserve you.” Andrei cursed under his breath.

“He knows.” Santino held his head high. “And I’ll take all three. I’ll just let her pick which ones.”

I stared at him like he was crazy. “What?”

“Choose carefully; I want full use of my dick after this.” He glanced over to Dante.

Noted, no rope.

I nodded, then winced when I saw both Nixon and Chase, he’d most likely bruise, but there wouldn’t be any cuts.

“Tick tock,” Tex said.

“Nixon, Chase, and Sergio.”

Andrei nodded his head. “So you choose internal bleeding plus one external injury.” He clasped his hands together. “Let’s begin. Each boss gets one minute.”

“That’s an eternity!” I yelled.

“Exactly my point. He will have you for an eternity. What’s three minutes to keep it, sister?”

I opened my mouth and shut it.
