[Sterling] >> Come to my office.

I snapped a picture of my reflection and sent it to him.

Winter [Sterling] >> Bit busy just now.

[Sterling] >> Shoes, bra, and panties don’t match. -5 points. Get dressed, THEN come to my office. Bring the shoes.

The attendant returned carrying the green gown. She glared at me. I gave her my best art gala smile. “Excuse me another minute, I have to call my husband.”

Her entire face sucked in like I rubbed a lemon on it. Excellent.

Sterling picked up his phone before the second ring.

“You should text me pictures more often,” Sterling told me, a warmth in his tone that sent shivers over my skin, and honey-warmth ran through the cracks and hollows.

I squirmed a little bit, the sudden flush uncomfortable, and the two people in the room with me made it all the worse. “What do you need me there for?”

“You can’t send me something like that and expect it to be all business sixty seconds later.”

It had to have been the least sexy panty shot in the history of panty shots. Any attempt at artful posing would have resulted in me toppling into a heap and laughing until being overcome by unsexy hiccups, or a broken ankle. “I’m not in here alone, Sterling.”

“Then it’s ten points off for not matching, you uncivilized feral.”

“Stop it.” I blushed scarlet and tried not to squirm. His voice slid over me, into all the raw and hurting places. Prickles raced over my skin, warmth coalesced between my thighs, and my nipples perked against their silk confines.

Being in my underthings while I changed was one thing. My panties moistening while my mate caressed me from afar was another.

“Do I have to?” he growled in my ear.

“You texted for a reason,” I reminded him.

A thick pause, then, in a more controlled voice, he told me, “There’s someone here to talk to you. It’s about her daughter.”

Nonplussed and distracted by my panties, I asked, “Do you know her?”

“No. She doesn’t smell of wanderers, but there’s something off about it all the same. I haven’t asked her very many questions.”

“How did—” I bit it down quickly before my half of the conversation would sound like I was asking Sterling about some old fling or a mistress.

Bailing on Mint wasn’t an option. I did need to choose a dress and have it fitted.

Not to mention the attendant stood glaring at me, and her expression was if you bail on me, I will stab you with all these pins at once. I did not want to add pincushion to my resume. I was precariously close to throw rug as it was.

Sterling would have to make the wolf wait. “The soonest I can be there is two hours, Sterling.”

“Fine. If she won’t wait, that’s not my problem. Call me just before you arrive.”

“So, two hours,” Mint said once I got off the phone. He gestured for the attendant to bring on the next dress.

An anxious pain struck the hollow space within me, an odd companion to the warmth still between my thighs.

“Everything alright?” Mint asked.

“Yes, yes. An unexpected meeting at Sterling’s office. Crap. I didn’t bring anything to wear.” I had come in jeans and a pretty sweater, and if I was going to meet this other wolf, I needed to look more the part of the Luna. How had this wolf found Sterling anyway?

“I didn’t know you worked with Sterling,” Mint said.

Put me down for another lie to keep straight. “I help him with a few things.”
