“You’re Dr. Kind?” he asked.

“Yes. Dr. Jackson Kind, neurosurgeon from Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.”

“I’m Dr. Grayson Kind, trauma surgeon. We’re not related, are we?” He smirked.

“Is your father’s name Henry or Liam?”

“No.” He chuckled.

“Then, I guess we’re not. It was nice to meet you, Dr. Kind.” I smiled.

“You too, Dr. Kind.”

As I began to walk away, I heard him call my name.

“Are you here for the neuro conference?” he asked.

“Yeah. I am.”

“Cool.” He smiled and walked away.

I returned to the hotel, went up to my suite, and ordered room service for dinner. It had been a long day, and I was tired. It was seven p.m. here in Boston and only four p.m. in Los Angeles. Georgia and my brothers were still at work, so I needed to wait a couple hours before calling them. Grabbing my phone, I sent a text message to Georgia.

“I’m back at the hotel. Call me when you’re on your way home. I love you.”

“I will. I miss talking to you. I love you too, babe.”

When I heard the knock on my hotel door, I climbed off the bed and opened it.

“Room service, Dr. Kind.”

“Thank you. Just set it on the table.”

I reached into my wallet and pulled out some cash for a tip.

“Thank you, sir. Enjoy your dinner.”

“Thank you.”

After I ate, I jumped in the shower. When I was finished and turned off the water, I heard my phone ringing. Wrapping a towel around my waist, I grabbed it and saw Georgia was Facetiming me.

“Hello, beautiful.” I smiled as I answered.

“Damn.” A wide grin crossed her face. “My sexy fiancé. I miss you.”

“I miss you too, babe. You’re home?”

“Yeah. I wanted to see you and talk to you, so I waited to call when I got home.”

“I’m happy you did. How was your day?”

“It was good. How’s the conference going?”

“So far, so good. One more lecture to do tomorrow, and I’ll be leaving first thing Thursday morning.”

She walked into the bathroom and started touching up her makeup.

“Where are you and the girls going for dinner?” I asked.
