It didn't help, but it put things into perspective. If I got home seething and frantic, it would probably upset Violet. I had to get myself under control. It was bad, but not the worst news. Eric hadn’t attempted to hurt her. But a part of me thought, how long would he be content just watching? When would he decide simply stalking wasn't enough and want to do something worse?

When I got home, it was fully dark, and only the street lights kept the area bright. I scanned the surroundings and spotted Tony’s and his men’s cars. Two out front and two others behind the building. North side... I drew a map in my head, and my eyes stopped at what would be the north side of the building. It was a blatant spot. The man's boldness sent a surge of anger whipping through me.

I drove into the garage, parked the car, and threw my bag over my shoulder, heading upstairs. The elevator came to a stop, and I climbed out. I knocked on our door so Violet would be alerted to my arrival. I needed her to feel safe.

Slowly, the door opened, and my eyes fell on her.

“Whoa,” I choked on the word.

She leaned against the door frame blinking her dark lashes at me. Her long, dark hair fell over one shoulder, and her pretty, plump lips pouted deliciously. A red skimpy, see-through lingerie dress clung to her skin, exposing the barely-there underwear she wore.

My brain went on vacation, along with all the worry I had felt moments ago. I stared at her for a long moment, trying to remember why I was vexed at all. All was right with the world when Violet looked good enough to eat.

“Are you going to kiss me? Or do you just want to continue looking at me as though you want to devour me?” she asked cheekily.

Before the last sound left the air, I dumped my bag on the floor and wrapped her in my arms. Our mouths connected, and blood rushed to my cock. I became hard instantly and I was sure Violet could feel it pressing against her belly, but she didn't show it. Instead, she raised both hands, threading them through my hair. I groaned and kissed down her smooth neck, then back up to her intoxicating mouth.

"We should go inside," she said breathily, reaching for my shirt.

Something about her tone and the words snapped me back to reality. I set her down slowly, surprised it hadn’t registered that I'd picked her up in the moments while we kissed.

She watched my face carefully. “Shawn, what's wrong?”

I kicked my bag out of the way and closed the door. “We need to talk.”

“Okay.” She folded her arms around her chest, hiding her soft body.

I wanted to pry her arms apart and kiss down the length of her until she squirmed for me, but I shook my head. This was not the time. I focused on her face instead. It didn't make it any easier.

My words would certainly upset her. As carefully as possible, trying to take the sting out of it, I said, "Tony reported to me tonight."

She took a few steps back, her eyes widening. “What?”

“He saw Eric. He's been watching the building.”

“Oh, God.” She spun away from me and ran both hands through her hair. "Why won't he just stop? I can't... I don't want this. I told him. I'm so fucking tired."

"Hey." I pulled her around and tugged her into my arms, enveloping her in a hug. She buried her head against my chest.

She mumbled something I couldn't make out. Probably lamenting about Eric's relentless pursuit. The bastard can go to hell. He can't gain access to the penthouse, anyway. He can only look. All he did was provide evidence against himself for criminal prosecution.

For now, though, Violet needed me. I left the thoughts of her ex and focused on her. Rubbing my hands down her hair and back eased her trembling, and her body relaxed against mine.

"Don't worry about him, okay? You're safe here. No one can get into this building unnoticed, and he wouldn't dare. And when you're out, Tony and his men will constantly watch over you. You're safe."

She burrowed into me, wrapping her arms against my waist and sighing. She was beginning to relax.

“Anything you need, Violet, I'll do it for you. You only have to ask.”

She pulled back, looking up into my eyes. “Anything?”

I nodded once. She'd never asked for anything despite my near-constant offers. I waited for her to continue; for once, I wanted to do something just for her.

She watched my face intently, then her lips parted. But instead of speaking, she rose on her tiptoes, palms flat against my chest, and whispered a kiss against my lips.

I bit back a groan, looking into her lust-heavy eyes.

“I want you, Shawn,” she said.
