Page 93 of Enduring Darkness

When I at last turn onto their street, I feel as if I’m going to die from the unrelenting stimulations. I’m going to shatter from the tension thrumming inside me. Like a raging storm trapped in a tiny glass bottle.

Moans and desperate whines spill from my lips.

My whole body shakes and I wobble with every step.

It feels like my mind is unraveling and my body is melting.

I need release. Or I need the vibrations to stop. I need it more than I need air.

Halfway up the path to their front door, my knees buckle.

Crashing down on the ground, I curl in on myself and just drag in shuddering breaths. The vibrations continue, fraying my sanity with every excruciating second. I lift my head and stare at the door a few steps away. Part of me is hoping that Kaden will appear there and carry me inside. But the logical part of my brain knows that Kaden is not Prince Charming. Kaden is the villain.

So I do the only thing I can do.

I use every smidgen of strength and resolve that I possess.

And crawl up to their front door.

My body trembles with the pent-up release as I raise my hand to pound it against the door.

It’s opened a few seconds later by Jace, who stares down at me with raised eyebrows.

“Uhm…” he says.

Pitiful whimpers escape my throat as I crawl through the door and into their elegant wooden hallway. Kaden is nowhere to be seen.

For a few seconds, Jace just watches me from where he towers over me. Then he closes the front door while raising his voice to shout, “Dude! She’s here. You might want to ease up a bit.”

Only silence answers him from upstairs.

And the vibrations continue.

I curl my fingers into fists and pound one hand against the floor while the tension crackling inside me steals every ounce of willpower that remains in my body.

“Please,” I sob.

God, I truly must be desperate if I’m begging Jace Hunter for help. He hates my family just as much as Kaden does.

For another moment, I just lie there on the floor, trembling and trying to keep my fraying mind together. Then Jace raises his voice again.

“Kaden!” he calls. “She literally crawled across our threshold on her hands and knees. I don’t think she’s going to make it up the stairs. So unless you want me to carry her up, you should probably turn that off.”

The vibrations stop immediately.

I suck in a gasp.

My heart slams so hard against my ribs that, for a while, the loud pounding of it is all I can hear.

But with the vibrations at last gone, I can finally think again.

Bracing my hands on the smooth wooden floorboards, I push myself up and stagger to my feet. Jace watches me with a mildly curious expression on his face. I drag in another deep breath as I look up to meet his eyes.

“Thank you,” I say, my voice coming out in a croak.

“Don’t thank me,” he replies, though not unkindly. “You will be on your knees crawling again soon enough.”

An exhausted sigh rips from my chest. Because I fear that he might be right. I need to get this chastity belt off, and it’s not coming off unless Kaden unlocks it. And given the fucking torture he has put me through today, he is not particularly happy that I went on this date with Josh. If he turns on the vibrator again and leaves it on without letting me come, I will be on my knees crawling within minutes.
