“Yes,” Alina, Ivan, and I all reply.

“Great. Then let’s sign.”

Papers rustle as we all sign the contracts before us.

Once it’s done, we all stand up. Alina is smiling so brightly that my heart almost stops. But Ivan still glares at me, so I hold out a hand across the table as if to shake his.

His lip curls in disgust as he looks down at my hand before shooting me another glare. “Don’t push it.”

I let out a smug chuckle as he stalks away from the table. Mikhail shoots me a threatening look before he and Anton and the twins follow Ivan out the door.

A look that I can only interpret as ‘God, give me strength’ blows across my father’s face as he shakes his head and then turns to leave as well. Eli and Jace flash me a grin while Rico winks at me. Then they follow Jonathan out, closing the two double doors behind them. I turn to Alina.

Mischief glitters in her eyes as she rounds the table and comes to stand in front of me. “Hello, fiancé.”

“Hello, wife,” I reply.

She swats my chest with the back of her hand and gives me a look. “Not yet.”

“Soon.”

“You need to finish your senior year at Blackwater first.”

“So?” A sly smile curls my lips as I draw my fingers along her jaw. “You’re still mine.”

Grabbing the collar of my shirt, she pulls my face down to hers and claims my lips.

Heat pulses through my body at the possessiveness in her kiss. I slide my hands into her hair, kissing her back until she’s gasping for breath.

“And you’re mine,” she whispers, resting her forehead against mine. “I’m sorry that I didn’t see this attack coming. Next time, I will.”

I slide my fingers from her hair to her jaw, tipping her chin up so that she meets my gaze again as I straighten. There is both determination and vulnerability in her eyes as she holds my gaze.

“Next time, we will,” I correct her. “Together.”

She smiles. And once more, my heart almost stops. God, I want to spend the rest of my life watching all of these incredible emotions shine on her gorgeous face. And now, I will.

Curiosity swirls inside me again, and I cock my head as I study Alina.

“How did you get your father to agree to this marriage?” I ask.

A sly smile spreads across her lips, and she flicks her long blonde hair behind her shoulder. “I told him that I have you wrapped around my little finger.” Then she raises her eyebrows at me. “You?”

I laugh, and then incline my head in approval. “Same.”

She laughs as well. Her warm hands trail up my arms before locking around the back of my neck, pulling me down for another kiss. This one giddy and full of promises for the future.

What she told her father was the truth, though. She does have me wrapped around her little finger. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for her. No lines I wouldn’t cross. And the best part is that I know she feels the same way about me.

This strong, smart, and scheming woman. How could anyone think that she is made of glass? She is made of the strongest steel.

Only a true warrior could look into this cold, emotionless heart of mine and still find something to love.

I will never put her on a shelf like a trophy or a fragile little glass figurine.

She will be right by my side.

Plotting mayhem and bloody schemes.
