Tucker wandered away, and Abel whispered, “Tucker’s in the doctorate program here. He and his siblings took over their father’s real estate and construction empire, Wellington and Sons, when their father suddenly passed. We have been discussing getting into business together on a couple of projects. People are dying to work with the Wellingtons. Who knew playing pool with the guy would lead to such a promising career move.”

Not wanting to cause waves, I kept my reservations about Tucker Wellington to myself because what did I know? It was only a sense I had of the man.

Another couple approached us, and Abel was all smiles again, and I clued in to a whole new side of him. This smile held charm and endeared everybody to him. It made him approachable, a politician’s smile.

The way he worked the room and spoke with each person showed me what I was getting involved with. This party gave me a taste of my future and how Abel strategized his life. I wasn’t sure if I found it to be a turn-on or off, but witnessing it made me need some time to think.

The couple left, and another man had us in his sights.

“Abel, is it okay if I go and get a drink?” I’d only had water, and everything served was champagne and sparkling cider, but I wanted a moment to myself.

“Okay, but don’t be long.” He kissed my temple and watched me go as his fake smile came out, and he shook the man’s hand.

As I walked across the room toward the bar, I took everything in and chuckled. We were in college but the way these people dressed, spoke, and connected had me thinking of secret societies and conspiracy theories, that sort of stuff. Every person here had an angle, and Abel maneuvered all of them. Stepping back and watching him as I ordered and drank my water, people chomped at the bit to approach him. The scarier part, he knew exactly what he was doing.

It made me more worried about what the SD card contained. What else could he control if he stopped something as big as attempted rape and murder from coming out?

Abel must’ve sensed my gaze on him because he turned and gave me a heated look and held my eyes long enough that I squirmed. Abel smirked and winked before returning to his conversation.

After finishing my drink, I grabbed my clutch and headed back toward Abel when I spotted Kailey and Ella laughing with a group of Kailey’s sorority sisters. Taking a detour, I wanted to check in with them. The way Kailey squealed and hugged me as I came over instantly revealed her sobriety. Or lack thereof. The shocker had to be Ella’s eyes glazed over and her buzzing too.

“Done being the first lady for a little while?” Kailey said, giggling.

“What?”

“Never mind. Come on, I want to dance.” Kailey jumped and clapped as the string quartet finished, and a DJ started playing some popular music. The dance floor shifted from couples to girls dancing in groups and men trying to snag one.

“Oh, me too,” Ella chimed in, and they both grabbed one of my hands and dragged me onto the dance floor with them.

The urge to hesitate and slink back to Abel had me ready to seek him out, but the girls hugged me tight, and we awkwardly attempted a hugging dance, which had me in a fit of laughter. With my mind working a mile a minute with everything racing around in there, I decided to let loose with my girlfriends and have a good time. We started doing little jumps, hip wiggles, and waving our arms around, and I got lost in the moment.

The upbeat music enthralled me, and I closed my eyes and let the beat overtake me. The world slipped away, and I got lost in the music. There were no worries about how I looked, what people thought of me, or any negative thoughts.

The escape faded, and the air thickened as hands wrapped around my hips and tugged me into a heated body. The deep scent of sandalwood and spice tickled my nose, and I fell into Abel’s embrace. A new sense of safety and escape took over, drawing my mind back to the satin sheets and candlelight in a heady gaze.

“This doesn’t look like the bar, baby.” He kissed the sensitive spot behind my ear. I ground my ass against him, and his cock got more prominent against me. We moved and rolled against each other like the first night we danced together, but no secluded balcony appeared to sneak off to. Which I found to be a crying shame. “It’s okay, though. I find you intoxicating all the same.”

He flipped me around and then pulled me into his arms so that this time I faced him. We danced close together and moved to the music even though we had our own body language take over. My body heated as memories flooded my mind, and possibilities of later built on top of those memories. Abel took my hand and spun me out. Twirling me a few more times before dragging me back to his chest. Face to face and eye to eye, he smirked, knowing what he was doing to me. With his eyes locked on mine, he pulled me in close and whispered over my lips, neglecting to kiss me. “Even as a lady, you’re a little slut for me, aren’t you? I’ll have to fuck that out of you. Can’t have people looking at you and thinking about how you beg for my cock, now can I?”

The comments made me widen my eyes, and I glanced around us, hoping nobody had heard what he said.

“Don’t worry about them. Worry about me. We’re taking a quick break from the party.”

Without warning, he dragged me behind him and toward the exit. I hesitated for a beat before caving into him.

Chapter 4

Abel

The entire time we were dancing, the scene at the club played repeatedly in my head. I had to have her now, or I’d explode. Back then, I refrained from taking her, but nothing stopped me now. I dragged her behind me the moment her eyes filled with lust, and she bit her bottom lip as she raked her gaze over me. It had always been my clue she was ready for me to take her, so who was I to disappoint?

Chan didn’t fight me hard, but she had a bit of resistance, making me get harder for her as I dominated her movements. I’d been dying to slip inside her at one of these pretentious gatherings even before I first took her. Now was the opportunity.

When we made our escape, I slammed through the doors and led our way over to the pool. In the later season, the pool wasn’t a hot spot, but a small group of freshmen drank beers and laughed. When I entered the fenced area, they all glanced our way. I glared at them, but nobody moved or said anything. Chan’s other hand clamped around my wrist while I still held her right hand, my body was on fire with desire, I had to get inside her.

“Leave,” I said.

The two guys and three girls looked at us with confusion and said nothing.
