No. Just because I wanna have my way with her doesn’t mean I should fall for her lies.

Think with the bigger head, dumbass.

“How can I make you believe me?” Skye asks quietly.

Soul steps to the side and turns to face her. “You can’t.”

“Then do whatever the fuck it is you’re gonna do to me,” she pleads. “If I have to pay for someone else’s sins, so be it.”

I close the distance between us and push her back into the chair. Leaning forward, my nose practically touching hers, I open my mouth to explain exactly how she’s going to be punished, but the door banging open stops me.

I whirl in that direction, as do my brothers, and my brows shoot up when I spot Jez, Apple, Violet, Cece, and Mel standing there like avenging angels.

“Stop,” Cece orders.

“What are you doing in here?” Soul asks.

“I tapped into the security feed,” Jez admits with a shrug. “Wanted to know what you were doing to Skye because she looked terrified when you first brought her into the clubhouse.”

“You all need to leave,” Soul growls. “This is club business.”

Violet, the quietest of the bunch, steps forward with her arms crossed over her chest. Her eyes shine with rage, and her skin is flushed. Grim begins to walk to her, but she holds a hand up to stop him.

“You need to let Skye go,” Violet says. “She didn’t do anything wrong.”

“How the fuck could you possibly know that?” I bite out.

“Because.” Violet takes a deep breath. “I know what’s going on.”

CHAPTER 16

SKYE

“Iknow what’s going on.”

The ol’ ladies came barreling through the door like a horde of mama bears protecting a cub. It’s a sight to behold, but it sends my panic level even higher into the stratosphere. The last thing I want is for them to think I’m a thief. I consider them friends, but after this, they’ll probably wish they’d never met me.

“Violet, no. Get out of here before they hurt you,” I plead. “Jez, can you please make sure my grandma gets all the money out of my accounts? It’s not much, but she needs it.”

“What the fuck?”

“Hurt them?”

Malice and Rogue speak simultaneously, but it’s Violet who reacts physically.

She jerks back as if she’s been slapped. “They’d never hurt us.”

“Maybe not, but I’m not taking any chances. Please, go.”

“Skye,” Jez says gently. “I know they can be Neanderthals, but they wouldn’t hurt us, and they sure as hell aren’t going to hurt you without knowing all the facts.” She places her hands on her hips and glares at the men standing around me. “Will you?”

“For the love of all that’s unholy, someone tell me what the fuck is going on,” Rogue demands, stepping between my chair and the ladies.

Grim moves lightning-fast to put himself in front of Violet. He bares his teeth and growls as his hands fly with precision. Violet places her hand on Grim’s arm, and he steps back… marginally.

Rogue dips his head. “I’m sorry, Violet.”

“It’s okay,” Violet says softly. “I need to ask Skye some questions before I can explain.”
