“What’s he look like?” he asked.

I looked at Nera.

“He’s tall, probably six-two at least. Light-skinned Black, maybe mixed? Greenish eyes. Big straight white teeth. Violent. Sexual sadist.”

Viper’s eyebrows went up. “He…?” He let the question hang.

Nera nodded. “Unfortunately.”

I’d never seen a vampire’s face get red, but his did, and Phoenix’s as well.

Viper’s jaw clenched. “We’ll find him and dispose of him.”

“I want to be there,” Nera said quietly. “And please dismantle his operation.”

“We want to be involved,” I said. “Sex traffickers need to cease to exist, human, vampire, or otherwise.”

“Agreed,” Viper replied.

Venom looked at Nera. “Were any of the vics wolves or vamps? Or other witches?”

“I think I was the only witch. They kept us drugged so I couldn’t use my powers. It was very frustrating.”

“What kind of drugs?” Phoenix asked.

“I’m a nurse, and I believe it was propofol. It’s used for surgeries and such.”

“I wonder where they get it?” Shadow asked.

“I’m sure they just hypnotize—I mean, coerce—a medical staff for it,” Venom said.

“What did the other guy look like who got away?” Viper asked Nera.

She sucked in the side of her lip. “About six foot, pale, blue eyes, greasy black hair that falls in his face a lot. I never got a name. I only knew Deon’s because one of them slipped up and said it.”

Viper looked at Phoenix. “Get all of that to Face. Have him start searching.”

“I think they’re from Mississippi. They had a place in Biloxi,” Nera added.

“You got an address?” Phoenix asked.

“I’ll have Wizard text it to Face,” I said.

Viper stood and the other three did as well, so we also stood.

“Next time there’s a vampire issue, call us. Please,” Viper said, looking stern.

“You have my word,” I replied, putting my hand out to shake.

He returned it, and the Nighthawks left out the front door of Rumble.

“Are you sure you’re all right?” I asked Nera as she stood in my bedroom, her arms around my waist.

“I am. I promise. Now kiss me, Psycho.”

I didn’t need to be told twice. I leaned down and pressed my lips to hers. They were warm and soft and she smelled like flowers and sunshine. As our lips moved in sync, I knew I’d found the bright light my dark soul had been waiting for. She was strong and resilient, feminine and tough. She was everything I could want in a woman. She made me want to burn down the entire world and murder anyone who even looked at her, let alone touched her.

I knew we needed to talk more about what happened to her, but right now, neither of us were in the mood to talk.
