I had seen it, and I’d hated it.

I would have rather Damian had slugged me rather than look at me like a total stranger that he abhorred.

“You don’t know Damian,” I said brusquely. “And you sure as hell don’t know me. I don’t need advice from someone who has probably never had an unhappy moment since she was born.”

She was way too upbeat.

Too naïve.

Too idealistic.

What in the hell could she understand about a cynical bastard like me?

I added, “Keep your opinions to yourself. You know nothing about me, Kylie, or why I’m such a prick. I don’t want to talk to my family or anyone else for that matter. I just want everyone to leave me alone.”

I ignored the disappointed look in her beautiful hazel eyes as I turned to leave the kitchen.

“I may understand more than you think,” she called after me.

I kept walking until I hit the stairs.

There was no possible way she could comprehend my actions when I rarely knew what I was doing myself most of the time.
