Stop daydreaming. Clary pushed those frivolous thoughts from her mind as she strode over to Andrea. She had work to do.

She was too old to behave like a giddy young schoolgirl.

She hadn’t done that even when she actually was a young schoolgirl.

Focus, she told herself.

The weight of what she had to do today started to creep up on her as she stared at the black Hayes Security trucks. The first twelve men for the first shift.

She had tons to do today. It was basically her declaring war against those whose loyalty remained with Hugh Eolenfeld. How ugly would the fallout be?

Clary blew out a breath and looked over at Seth’s car. You’ve made a plan. Do it. If you make a mistake, own it. Then work on fixing it.

He nodded at her, a silent encouragement, before turning his attention to his phone.

“We can do this,” she said to herself, then squared her shoulders and walked up to Andrea. “Is everything ready?”

Andrea looked up from her phone, then turned it toward her. “Your boyfriend.”

Feel free to break the arm of whoever tries to hurt Clary. One spa treatment per person stopped.

Clary had in passing mentioned that she’d be getting Andrea a full spa day treat for Christmas. She couldn’t believe he’d remembered.

She peered back over at Seth, who merely smiled at her before driving away.

“Deal,” Andrea said as she typed on her phone, then dropped her hand. “Yes, everything’s ready.”

When Clary looked over at the security team, the men gathered and stood in position.

They were all clad in black jackets with the white word ‘Security’ printed across the back and the breast pocket. Their black cargo pants had several pockets, and they each wore a belt with several pouches hanging on it.

Standing neatly in two lines of six, their backs straight and eyes glaring straight ahead, the team looked formidable.

Formidable and ready.

Seeing how put-together they were gave Clary a shot of confidence.

“As planned, all of them will go with us. We’ll go to the first floor and immediately replace the current team with them.”

Clary nodded. “Everyone else will follow us.”

“I’ve already told them.”

Clary wanted to make sure that everyone saw what was going on. She wanted the news to spread. This was her giving the staff a heads-up, and it should attract enough attention for the boys’ club to hear about it.

“Then we’ll go straight to the security department and the installation team will take over while you kick off your first declaration of war for the day.”

Clary blew out a breath. “We can do this.”

“Yes, I’ve got your back.” Andrea cocked her head toward the new security team who was getting their own briefing. “Six of them will be with us as we make our way through the departments.” Her assistant’s gaze roamed across her face. “Are you sure you want to do this today?”

“Why?”

“Gavin Ressler?”

“I’m not putting anything on hold for Gavin Ressler.” Clary blew out a breath. “The security team should know, though. Just in case he tries to get into the bank.”

“I’ve already briefed them. They all have his photo.”
