“Perfect love casts out fear.” She fluttered her lids. “Anyway, instead of ostracizing him, Yoda and all those Jedi could’ve just—”

“All those Jedi,” he said and laughed. “Yoda did take in Luke, and that helped his father to turn away from the dark side.”

“Because of love.” She made a face. “Which Yoda didn’t have since he could rise above it?” she said sardonically.

“Did we watch the same movies? Yoda isn’t the villain here.”

“The baby Yoda is cuter.”

Seth’s brows drew together. “You watched The Mandalorian?”

“No. I just saw the memes. Cute tiny little thing. How did he become that grumpy old man? Should I call him a ‘man’? Is it an ‘it’ or—” She gasped when he pressed his lips to hers.

His arm snaked under her, and he lifted her closer against his chest as he deepened his kiss.

Clary’s heartbeat soared, and she tipped her head back and melted against him.

Really, she should be offended that he was only kissing her to shut her up.

But then again, she didn’t really mind.

Nothing seemed to matter as long as his arm was around her, as long as she was nestled so safely against him.

Then, as suddenly as he kissed her, he stopped.

He broke the kiss, and pressed his forehead to hers for a second before releasing her and rolling off the bed.

She stared at him, not quite sure what happened. “Are you mad?”

Seth’s brows drew together.

“I’m …” He walked around the bed to her side. “I’m definitely not mad.” He gave her a peck on the forehead. “That baby Yoda isn’t the Yoda in the movies we just watched.” He switched off the projector.

“It’s an animatronic, right? Could you build one?”

“You want one?”

“It’s cute.” She yawned softly and slipped down on the bed.

“You won’t think it is after watching the TV series.”

She turned on her side to look at Seth. “If we’re watching that, you have to watch a series with me too.”

He curled the gray wire around his hand. “What do you want to watch?”

“The Chosen.”

“What’s that?”

“It’s about Jesus.” She expected he’d roll his eyes or throw her out, but instead, he laughed.

“Sure.”

“There are two seasons.”

“Okay.”

“Five hundred episodes per season.”
