Seth ran his hand though his hair. Edward Eolenfeld hadn’t seemed opposed to their relationship, and Seth might have actually won over Grandma Moretti, but that wasn’t all. There was still Safe Homes, the job Clary so loved back in New York.

Now that EB Co. had refunded the accounts and the obstacle of the boys’ club no longer existed, she would probably be able to complete what she set out to do here.

He was pulled from his thoughts when his phone buzzed.

He took out his phone and answered Zane’s call.

“Hugh’s gone.”

Seth tipped his head back. “I thought he had nowhere to go.” He’d thought Hugh would simply wander into one of their apartments in search of food, then just sleep the rest of the day away.

He’d assumed he’d get home and find a Goldilocks situation.

“Hugh?” Clary asked.

“Hugh’s missing.”

She waved it off. “He probably went in search of someone idiotic enough to pay for a night of partying. The Eolenfelds are all like that.”

Seth arched a brow. “So you’re not worried?”

“He’ll be fine.”

Andrea got up. “I’ll share the photos with Ron too. Maybe we can swing by the hardware store on the way back to the hotel.”

“Thanks, Andrea.”

Andrea leaned over and gave Clary a tight hug. “You’re welcome.”

“What’s that about?” Seth asked when Andrea closed the office door behind her.

“I think she’s just lonely because of the holiday.” Clary cleared the papers off the coffee table. “Let’s go out for dinner. My treat. Then maybe we can swing by the grocery store to see what we can get for Christmas dinner? Also, we need to talk.”

CHAPTER 25

Celebrating Christmas had been a major affair at Holly’s.

But Seth and his brothers never had to do anything besides show up clean and neatly dressed.

Oh, and to behave as if they were the luckiest children ever, to be adopted by Holly Eolenfeld.

But last night, just watching Clary fill the cart with all the ingredients for Christmas dinner had made his head spin. Then there was the problem of where she’d actually cook the meal. Which would be easily solved if he were sure he could get his brothers to go to the mansion.

Zane and Oliver? No problem.

Aldric, probably.

Elton? When hell froze over.

So the second option was for her to cook at the Bay mansion, then bring everything to his place. But that would mean extra trouble for what he assumed would already take hours of work.

“Are you serious?” Tony, his assistant, asked on the other end of the call.

This was probably the worst thing Seth could lay on his assistant two days before Christmas, and it was even before Tony’s official working hours.

“I can probably get you the cooking appliances. I mean, money isn’t an issue so I can definitely get that done, but to fit the oven? I think that would involve some minor renovation. Do you already have space for a built-in oven? Otherwise, I’ll have to—”

Seth pushed his head back, then to the sides, stretching his neck. “I can make space. Don’t worry about that.” He scanned the kitchen and leaned back against the fridge. “I can make space.”
