Page 31 of It Ends With A Yes

Oliver rolled his eyes. “He’s not going to bet those. Clary bought them for him.” He dragged the other box closer. “Open this.”

It was another game. Two of the same again. A virtual reality Star Wars game.

“Yes.” Oliver pumped his fist. “I was hoping she’d get this for you. Now I can play it too.”

Seth opened his third present. A Star Wars Lego set.

“I guess she knows you like Star Wars,” Aldric said.

Seth laughed and opened his last present. This is my favorite. It was an Iron Man figurine.

“Oh.” Oliver took the box from Seth. “I’ve seen this. It dances.” He returned the box to Seth. “You’ll need batteries.”

Aldric looked for his present, which wasn’t too difficult to find since there weren’t many boxes left. “Ha.” He sat down and ripped off the wrapping paper in under a second, then opened the box and grinned. But even as his lips curled back, he glanced over toward the kitchen.

“What is it?” Oliver strode over, and Aldric put the box behind him.

“It’s a gift.”

“What is it?”

Aldric peered over at the kitchen, probably to make sure Zane was nowhere in sight, then took out the box. “Temporary realistic tattoos.” There was an entire box of them, with different designs of various sizes.

Oliver’s eyes widened.

“They’re temporary.”

“If Zane ever sees a real one on you …” Seth warned.

“They’re temporary.” Aldric tapped on the note on the outside of the box. Each design lasts one to two weeks. There are ten of each design. Whichever you choose, you have to use all ten consecutively. You cannot remove them and must allow them to fade on their own. Use if you dare …

Seth smirked.

It seemed Clary had figured Aldric out.

“I thought they were supposed to be frivolous toys.” Aldric shot Seth a glare. “You snitched on me, didn’t you?”

“I didn’t snitch. I might’ve mentioned in passing about how you wanted to get a tattoo, but Zane disallowed it.”

“So this really is a present for Zane. Does that mean I can get her to buy me another present? I want the dancing Iron Man.” Aldric paused, then smirked. “If I can repeatedly use the same design without a single word of complaint, do you think I can convince Zane to let me have a real one?”

“No way.”

“I could just go out and get one anyway,” Aldric grumbled.

Oliver smacked Aldric on the arm. “You promised.”

Aldric made a face. “You know what I’m most curious about?”

“What Clary got for Elton?” Because Oliver was really curious about it.

“Let’s open it and see.”

Seth shot Aldric a glare.

“I’ll do it really carefully. We’ll take a peek, put the tape back, and no one else will know.”

“No.”
