Fiona bucked her hips under me and bared her teeth at me. “I will tie you to the bed and make you watch without an ounce of control if you don’t shut up and take me.”

Laughing, I nodded. “As you wish.”

“Iknew that our time together made an impression on you three but I am so pleased to see you back here.” Carl Levine was exactly the same as the last time we’d seen him. He fluttered around like an injured butterfly, his movements a little too jerky to be beautiful. “It’s amazing that you’re gifting your ex-wives such a wonderful experience.”

I smiled and nodded, happy to play the part of the decent guy Carl thought I was. “I know this is a longer experience than what we went through, but I just want to make sure it’s the same intensity. I wouldn’t want our ex-wives to expect what we went through and be disappointed.”

“Oh, Mr. Steele, you have nothing to worry about. Our two-week long experiences are meant to change lives in an even bigger way, in every way. You won’t recognize these women when they leave Bending Branches.”

Jake snorted. “I hope so.”

Sebastian cleared his throat and nodded to the road where a small red sports car was heading our way. “Carl, do you mind if we talk to them alone for a few minutes?”

“Of course, of course. I’ll be in my office, re-zening my zen garden when you’re finished.” He glided away with his ass exposed in a fart suit and the long sleeves of his top flowing in the breeze he created.

“Are we ready?” Sebastian looked at me and Jake and raised his eyebrows. “Are you both going to be able to stay level-headed?”

Jake shrugged. “I guess we’ll see.”

“I’m good.” I was. Having things go so well with Fiona made it easy to let go of the fury I felt at my ex. “We should’ve done this earlier. I don’t like being away from Fi when she’s so close to delivering.”

“Fiona vetoed all the ideas we had earlier. This was the first one she agreed to.” Sebastian smiled to himself. “She really loves this one.”

“I don’t understand why she didn’t like my idea of shipping both of these women off to another country.” Jake made a face. “I thought it was great.”

The car came to a stop a few feet in front of us and I had a memory of standing in the exact spot, watching Fiona and Mallory pull up a few months earlier. My heart had been racing that day and I’d been terrified that we’d fucked up too much for Fiona to forgive us. The pressure had been immense for us to be good enough for her. Standing in that spot, watching my ex-wife pull up, I was calm. There was nothing on the line. I wanted Sara to be a better person for our sons, but that was where my care ended.

“There was also your idea of signing them up for the Church of Scientology boat.” Sebastian laughed before he managed to control himself and straighten his face into something grimmer. “Alright. Time to get serious.”

Sara and Megan stepped out of the car and a look passed between them that told me everything I needed to know. The two women had bonded deeply over their nastiness. Their closeness was surprising, only because I didn’t think it was possible for Sara to like any other women.

Sebastian took control, as he loved to do. “Ladies. Thank you for meeting us.”

Megan frowned. “Why are we here? This is, like, the middle of nowhere. If any of you had any backbone, I’d think you wanted to murder us.”

Jake smiled. “We can’t always get what we want, Megan.”

“We asked you to meet us here because we have a few things to discuss.” Sebastian squeezed Jake’s shoulder and then crossed his arms over his chest. “The harassment you put Fiona through. We need to address it.”

Sara rolled her eyes. “Oh, fuck off. Are you kidding me? You’re still upset about Pollyanna? Aren’t you guys in some weird serious relationship?”

“We’re in a very serious relationship with Fiona. She’s the one for us. Which is why we’re taking what you did so seriously. You both went out of your way to hurt her. You cost her the job that she loved. You made her piece of shit ex reach out to her. You pulled the wool over our eyes for long enough for us to hurt her.” With a deep scowl, Sebastian reached into his back pocket and pulled out the papers he’d had drawn up. “Don’t think of this as a punishment.”

Sara shook her head. “It’s not our fault you idiots believed us. We never imagined it would be so easy to trick you. A plan that came together over a bottle of wine worked that well. It’s kind of amazing. We haven’t heard from you guys about this in months. Why now? We’ve moved on. If you guys haven’t, maybe you’re not so crazy about Pollyanna. Maybe you’re missing a bit of spice.”

“Wait.” Megan put her hands on her hips and studied the expression on Jake’s face. “What are you talking about? What punishment?”

I laughed. “You never could focus on the issue at hand, Sara.”

“Again, don’t think of this as a punishment.” Sebastian cleared his throat. “What you did to Fiona was illegal. If we took the information we gathered, including statements from everyone you called along the way, to the police, you’d both be charged with harassment. Not to mention the slander suit Fiona could file against the both of you. She definitely has the money to afford the lawyers now.”

Megan, always streetsmart and wary from being raised dirt poor, held up her hands. “Cut to the chase. What do you want?”
