“I need more,” I say as I listen to the subtle echo of our heart beats.

“Not tonight,” Kace replies, gently caressing my thigh. “This is all you get tonight.”

“But why?” “We promised we’d ease you in,” Elias says. “You’re not ready for the three of us at once, Amaya. Not yet. Soon, though. Very soon.”

I look at them with a mixture of excitement and disappointment, prompting a sweet laugh out of Finn. He kisses my lips, ever so softly. “Be patient, grasshopper,” he whispers, green eyes devouring my very soul. “You’ll get everything soon enough.”

“We just want to do this right. Take it slow. Build something real with you,” Kace says.

As I melt in their embrace, as they lick the sweat from my skin, dropping fluttering kisses all over , the only thing I can think about is that I still want more. So. Much. More. And with this depraved desire comes an underlying guilt. I fear it will breach the surface by dawn. I may have lost control over myself tonight. Completely.

Elias

The days following Napa seemed brighter. Or maybe it’s just this crazy good mood I woke up with. I swear I can still taste Amaya on my lips. I can still feel myself inside of her. An otherworldly experience, through and through. The way her body responds to us. The way she allows herself to bloom in our arms, to completely let go of everything she thought she knew. I felt as though I touched the very gates of heaven on Friday.

It’s a feeling I need more of. And soon.

“Earth to Elias,” Kace’s voice comes through.

We’re in the breakfast room of the restaurant. I breathe in a full bouquet of morning-themed scents.

A soft breeze blows through the wide-open windows and I don’t think I’ll ever love a place as much as I love this estate. Not a day goes by that I’m not thankful we decided to get into this business together.

“Sorry,” I say, adding some milk to my coffee. “You were saying?”

“I was saying that we need to plan another date with Amaya,” Kace says. “Ideally next weekend.”

“Why next weekend? Why not tonight?” Finn asks. “She was more than open to the three of us going all in on Friday.”

Kace nods in agreement. “We have to take this slow, Finn. Amaya isn’t some professional we’re paying to be with us. She’s the real deal. We take our time with the real deal. Besides, absence does make the heart grow fonder.”

“Unless she changes her mind because she’s got too much time in between dates to properly think about it,” Finn mutters.

I can’t help but chuckle dryly. “Well, then that would mean she’s not the one, don’t you think?”

“She’s the one,” Finn insists.

“I’m perfectly aware of that. And I agree,” I tell them. “We’ll talk to her today. When is she coming into the yoga studio?”

“Around seven,” Kace says, briefly checking his watch. But then he looks up and somewhere over my shoulder, his expression shifting into the sunniest smile I’ve seen on him in a long time. “Or we could ask her right now.”

My head turns to see what he’s smiling at. Finn’s, too, just in time to see Amaya coming into the breakfast room with Mikey. She sees us, but she barely gives a smile as she and the kid wave at us. There’s something wrong, I can sense it. Something has changed between us, and not for the better.

Amaya averts her gaze, taking Mikey over to the breakfast buffet. They load their plates with scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes, and whatever else the little guy’s heart desires.

“What is she doing?” Finn wonders aloud. The three of us watch Amaya in her pale green yoga tights and matching top as she drops her gym bag at a table on the other side of the breakfast room, setting the plates down while Mikey fills a glass with orange juice from a stainless-steel dispenser over by the buffet.

“She might as well move out into the woods to eat,” Kace mutters.

Concern is etched deep into his features. I know that look too well. We’re all on the same page. We’re sensing a sudden drop in temperature coming from the woman we intend to make ours for as long as she’ll have us, maybe for life, and we don’t know what to make of it.

“Something’s off,” I say.

“Yeah, tell me about it,” Finn mutters, then gives Kace a curious look. “She seemed fine when we left her.”

“I walked her back to the house,” Kace sighs. “We kissed. Nothing seemed off.”
