“I trust your recommendations, Elroy. You haven’t steered us wrong yet,” Kace quips as Elroy pours a small amount into his glass. Kace proceeds to swirl the ruby-colored liquid in his glass before inhaling its notes then finally taking a sip. I watch with fascination as he takes his time, letting the wine settle on his tastebuds before licking his lips after he gulps it down and nods in appreciation. “Yes, this will definitely go well with our steaks. Thank you.”

“Thank you, sir,” the waiter replies and serves the whole bottle around.

Once he retires from the room, we dig into our plates, talking and laughing, simply enjoying each other’s company. I’ve rarely met people who are able to shift from one topic of conversation to another with such ease and knowledge.

One minute, they’re telling me about their experiences in the military and the systemic issues that our government has been facing for decades, and the next, we’re talking about social media campaigns to boost the estate’s online presence on certain video content platforms.

“Have you heard from Derrick lately?” Kace asks me, somewhat out of the blue.

I set my fork and knife down, then take a sip of my wine before I can formulate an answer.

“It’s been nice and quiet for more than a week now,” I say. “And I’m loving every second of it.”

“Good. You deserve peace,” Elias replies.

“What does the guy do for a living, anyway?” Finn asks me, one hand resting on the base of his glass, swirling his wine. I keep staring at his fingers, remembering all the things they’re good at. It makes me bring my knees closer together under the dinner table.

“He likes to consider himself an entrepreneur,” I say with a heavy sigh. “He used to work for a fitness studio at one point. Then he went into corporate, but that didn’t last long. He has spent the past few years starting all kinds of businesses, though none of them took off. Lots of angry investors left behind, I guess.”

“Sounds like a real winner,” Kace scoffs, then immediately gives me a startled look. “It’s not meant to be a reflection on you, Amaya, please know that.”

“Oh, it’s okay. We tend to do dumb things when we’re looking for love in all the wrong places,” I reply. “I’m well aware of that, now. I don’t really regret any of my choices, though. They’ve taught me a lot.”

“You shouldn’t,” Elias says. “You learned valuable lessons from each and every one of them. We are the sum total of our better and lesser deeds, in the end.”

Finn nods in agreement. “In fact, I think we learn more from our failures than we do from our successes.”

“You guys have had nothing but hits since you came back to the states,” I shoot back with a cool grin. “What do any of you really know about failure?”

Kace, Finn, and Elias exchange a quick glance before all three look back at me. I may have let my mouth run ahead without me on this one, but the words are already out. I can’t take them back. I can only face what I’m about to hear.

“Professionally, we hit a few snags along the way,” Kace says. “The public isn’t aware of those because we’ve got a great PR department in each of our companies.”

“Oh…” I mumble, suddenly feeling foolish.

“It’s okay, Amaya,” Kace insists. “We never had to start from scratch like you did. I guess life did treat us a tad better in that sense. We had different and better opportunities, at least business and career-wise. But let me tell you, on a personal level, we’ve fumbled the ball plenty of times.”

“You see, given how close the three of us are, it’s hard for other people to break into our circle,” Finn adds. “Especially when it comes to romance and a life partner.”

“I understand. It’s been difficult at times for all of you,” I say.

“Difficult but not impossible,” Elias replies. “There have been a few women who are willing to be with us. You know, actually be with us without it being transactional.”

“I’m not yet sure I’m one of them,” I blurt out. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m here. And I can’t deny the attraction between us. I just wouldn’t know where to start. It’s weird enough that I’ve had the experiences I’ve had with Kace and Finn.”

Elias leans forward, elbows resting on the edge of the table. A greedy smile stretches across his handsome face, desire twinkling in the black pools of his eyes. “Oh, I know you’ll love it just as much as we will, Amaya. You’ve got that spark in you, that hungry curiosity that makes the experience truly unforgettable.”

“You sound like you’re pitching a reality TV project,” Finn chuckles. “I reckon we should just show her. She’s already here and clearly willing.”

“Clearly willing?” I ask, my eyebrows arched upward in surprise.

The look Finn gives me sends shivers down my spine. I can feel my nipples wrestling against the lace of my bra. I know for a fact that my nipples are sharp and naughty as hell with all this attention.

“Amaya, I’m willing to bet that you’re dripping wet right now.”

“Is that so?” I allow myself a playful smile. I like the way they look at me. I feel tastier than the Wagyu steaks we just devoured.

“I’m pretty confident,” Finn says, his voice dropping into a baritone darkness that makes my legs tremble ever so slightly. “In fact, I’m ready to prove it.”
