I glanced back at Grandad. “Well, why didn’t you say so? Of course, you can stay, young lady. And call me Otto. Mr. Kingston was my dad.”

Otto. Wow. Grandad only ever asked people to call him by his first name if he liked them. In fact, the only person he’d ever told to call him by his first name was Taylor. Now she called him Grandad, but before that, he was Otto.

“Thank you, Otto.”

Ruby looked up at me, and I mouthed, “Thank you.”

I had the strongest impulse to lean down and kiss her. It felt like the most natural thing in the world, which was just another reason I needed to establish boundaries while she was here.

“Here, I’ll show you to your room.”

Harper raised her hand. “I’ll show her!”

“You need to wash up for dinner,” I told Harper.

I walked past Ruby and grabbed her bag before heading up the stairs. She followed behind me. Just hearing her footsteps turned me on. Or maybe it was the strawberry scent of her shampoo. Or maybe it was the memory of me carrying her up these steps less than twenty-four hours earlier to take her to bed and devour her.

Whatever the reason, I was at half-chub by the time I opened the door and placed her bag inside.

“I hope this is okay.” I’d moved all Grandad’s stuff down to the guest room, including his dresser and television. There was a bed, a closet, and a small chair.

“It’s perfect.” She smiled as she looked around.

Without thinking about it, I reached up and brushed the stray strand of hair off her forehead, then tucked it behind her ear. My fingertips grazed the cusp of her ear, and her full lips parted as her large blue eyes looked up at me through a bed of thick, dark lashes.

Another overwhelming urge to lean down and press my lips to hers caused me to drop my arm and take a step back. Distance was my only hope of keeping my hands, lips, and dick to myself.

“Thank you,” I rasped, putting my hands in my pockets.

“For what?”

“For what you said downstairs. He doesn’t want to admit he needs help.”

A small grin tilted at the corners of her mouth. “No problem.”

“Well, I’ll let you get settled. Dinner will be ready in about twenty minutes.”

“Do you need help?” she asked.

Images of Ruby and me working together in the close quarters of my kitchen populated in my head. My hand brushing hers as we both reached for something. Us bumping into one another as we navigated the small space. Her bending over to grab something out of the cabinet putting her full, perfect ass on display.

“No,” I barked.

Her eyes widened slightly at my harsh reply. “Oh…okay.”

“Sorry, just get settled in.” I turned and walked out, shutting the door behind me.

I took a deep breath and tried to get myself under control as I stood in the hallway. Ruby had been here less than five minutes, and I was already having a hard time, literally, keeping my hands to myself. When I was around her, I lost all sense of reason and self-control. There was only one solution. I needed to stay as far away from her as possible.

Which would be a little difficult since she’d be sleeping down the hall.

I stood in the bedroom and couldn’t quite believe that I was back in Kane’s house. This morning, when I’d snuck out, I’d been sure that I was never going to step foot in this house again. This house made me wish for things I never knew I wanted.
