When I glance back up, Noah is in front of me, opening his door wide.

“Talk to you soon—” he pauses “—Olivia.”

My heart is still racing when I arrive back at my dad’s and make a beeline for my room. Sitting on the bed, I eye my cell on the nightstand.

He’s supposed to call.

The green of Noah’s eyes haunts my mind, and I remember the feel of his hands on mine.

Maybe I missed it ringing?

I know I haven’t. I’m just being impatient. What a turn of events. I was dreading this interview, and now I’m chomping at the bit for a response.

That man, though. Noah’s commanding presence was like being in the room with royalty or something. He owned the whole place, and you could tell by just looking at him.

Sure, I’m no stranger to well-off parents, but Mr. Steele is something else. Mr. Steele…Noah.

“Yeah, I’m going to need to cool down if I’m going to be able to look my dad in the eye at dinner.”

I peel off my coffee-stained dress and turn on the shower in the large guest bath. Ditching my bra and panties, I step inside and enjoy the way the water slides down my skin.

I think back to the way Noah looked at me, the feel of his hand at the small of my back.

It’s completely ridiculous. I can’t be feeling this way about a guy I just met, let alone my dad’s best friend and someone I’m supposed to nanny for.

But…

Electricity dances in my veins as I picture Noah sitting on his desk so close to me. I imagine the chiseled physique he’s hiding under his button-down.

My fingers roam my body, but I stop.

It’s not going to happen. Noah is totally off-limits, and landing a steady paycheck is way more important than whatever this is.

Then I hear my phone ring from the other room, and I dash out of the shower to answer it, dipping water all over the floor.

“Hello.”

“Ms. Francis. This is Noah Steele.”

Holy shit. It’s him. I guess I didn’t think he’d really call. I mean, I spilled coffee all over his expensive shirt, for Christ’s sake.

“I’ve reviewed your resume, and I’d like to invite you to nanny for me. Your past experiences are impressive, and—” he pauses “—Elijah really likes you. You can start tomorrow. What do you say?”

Chapter 2

Noah

Opening the shower door, I wrap a towel around my hips and head to my closet. Olivia is due to arrive in a few minutes, and I need more coffee before she gets here.

I’m exhausted after sleeping like shit, and while it’s my own fault for asking her to be here bright and early, I’m still wishing I could have slept in more.

Not that it would have helped.

Normally sleep is no issue for me, but last night all I could do was think of Olivia and the way her curves looked like they were poured into her formfitting dress.

Unacceptable.
