“You both look happy,” my father comments with a smile. He’s always wanted what’s best for me, and I’m relieved to know that includes Enzo.

“I’m happier than I ever have been,” I admit. “We…I’m going to marry him, Dad.”

Enzo can’t hide the way he smiles when I tell my father our plans, and my Dad returns it with a grin.

“Ah, it’s a good thing I thought to look this out then, isn’t it?” Dad asks, getting up to walk to the shelves on the left-hand side of the room.

He picks something up, and Enzo and I rise to join him, our plates nearly clear now anyway.

“This ring has been in our family for a long time,” my father says as we stand in front of him. “I always hoped my daughter would wear it someday.”

My chest tightens with joy when my father hands Enzo the ring, patting him on the shoulder in encouragement. I hold my hand out for Enzo to slip the heirloom ring onto my finger. I’ve seen it before, remember thinking how utterly gorgeous it was. A huge, oval diamond haloed by sparkling emeralds.

“It’s perfect,” I tell them both, loving the way the engagement ring looks on my hand.

“Thank you, Mr. Graves,” Enzo says to my father, shaking his hand.

My dad rolls his eyes and yanks Enzo in for a hug, patting him on the back. “I think you ought to stick with Grant now that you’re going to be my son-in-law, don’t you?” He laughs and pulls away.

Enzo nods, smiling and looking down at me.

At that moment, I realize I have everything. I’ve wanted for nothing my whole life…except true love. Except Enzo.

And now that I have him? I couldn’t possibly be happier.

EPILOGUE

ENZO

“That’s the last of it, boss,” Greg calls out and sets a cardboard box down in the entryway.

“Thank you,” I tell the newest member of the security team, giving him a nod. “Go on your break. You’ve earned it.”

He grins at me, giving me a nod before heading out and closing the door behind him. It still feels a little strange to be called boss, but I guess that’s what I am now. Ian and Grant promoted me to Head Bodyguard after I proved my skill at the cabin. So, while Ian is still my boss, I’m now the one who handles the day-to-day security on the Graves estate. It makes sense after all, given that I live here now.

I snort when I think that the real reason Ian promoted me was so that he didn’t have to do all the interrogating and retraining alone. After what happened with Ben, every other bodyguard and member of the security team had to be questioned to ensure none of them had been working with Ben. While it had been a slog to get through, I’m happy as fuck to be the one in charge of keeping my wife safe. I don’t trust anyone else to be able to protect her the way I can.

With a groan, I go to move down the hall, only to find that I’m trapped by boxes. Shuffling a stack to the side, I free myself and head to find out where in the new house my wife is.

After we got married, we knew we needed our own space, but to keep her as safe as possible, we decided not to move off the property. Instead, we’ve taken one of the smaller properties on the Graves estate as our own, meaning Evangeline is still under the protection of my team while ensuring we have our own space and life together, instead of living under her father’s roof in the main house.

It’s no secret how excited I am to have our own place. I already have plans to christen every room in this house before the day’s done. Ever since she cooked for me at the cabin, I’ve had this fantasy of fucking her on the kitchen counter, which was impossible to do in the main house, what with all the staff and her father around.

“Have you seen this?” Evangeline calls out from the kitchen. I follow her voice, finding her leaning over the countertop, ignoring the boxes in need of unpacking as she reads a gossip magazine.

She glances over her shoulder at me when I walk in, flashing me a smile that sends me reeling. She’s so fucking beautiful, I doubt I’ll ever get used to it.

“Seen what, princess?” I wrap my arms around her waist, leaning my head on her shoulder to look at the article she’s pointing at.

“The billionaire and the bodyguard,” she reads the headline with amusement. “Grant Graves’ daughter, Evangeline, marries tattooed bad boy bodyguard, Enzo Mazzetti in a private ceremony…”

I listen as she reads out the article, rolling my eyes at the way the gossip magazine exaggerates and speculates everything. We tried to keep the wedding private and low-key, Evangeline insisting she didn’t want a huge wedding because she knew the press would have a field day with it. I’d have gone along with whatever she wanted, but I was secretly pleased that she didn’t want a whole event. The ceremony had been small and intimate, a celebration of us, without caring what the rest of the world thought.

Though, apparently, journalists had sniffed out information anyway.

Evangeline snorts with laughter as she reads a line. “Has Enzo corrupted the sweet, spoiled Graves with his dark ways? This is utterly ridiculous!”

I chuckle, finding the entire article stupid but undeniably funny. Whoever had written it needed some brain cells knocked into them because clearly, they were lacking in that department. I push the magazine away, turning my head so I can kiss my wife’s neck. I relish the way her breath catches as I do, loving the way she shivers under my touch.
