“As long as you aren’t pushing me away and I can sleep in your bed every night, take as much time as you need.”

“Rose, you can’t fuck him into forgetting about the rest of us,” Brooks called as he pounded on the door.

“Wanna bet?” She grumbled to herself.

“Love, he would lose. Every damn time.”

“Have you met Tanya?” Rose yelled.

“The one with the purple pasties?”

“That is the one.”

“I may have to sell my soul to Tank’s MC to get her to suck my dick if you two get any louder.”

“Oh, she can do something to your soul. She’s not much of a conversationalist, but don’t worry, she has other skills. Besides, they make a cream to cure just about anything nowadays.”

“Petal,” Warren chuckled.

“They are just going to keep knocking, aren’t they?”

“Yeah, baby, they are.”

Warren slowly trailed his hand out of her pants and sucked his fingers clean.

“We don’t have time for more.”

“I know. That’s why I’m not wasting it. Love the taste of your pussy, Petal. I can’t wait to get my mouth on it again.”

“Warren,” she bit her lip and moaned.

“Petal, zip your jeans before they decide to let themselves in. One of those assholes sees you, and I will kill them.”

“Not Bunny or Birdy or Ladybug. There is Badger and all the other guys, too. They really have a thing for animal names. I don’t even want to know why.”

Rose eased herself off his lap.

“Come on, love. We both need clean pants.” Warren took her hand and pushed her into the bathroom where he proceeded to wash her and tease her while he washed himself. By the time they left the bathroom, they were both panting but fully clothed.

“I need a favor,” Rose asked, her voice breathy.

“Name it.”

“I need to bake. All this,” she waved her hands in front of him, and then at the door Brooks was pounding on, “Needs flour therapy.”

Warren grinned. “That I can do. There is a fully stocked kitchen in the bungalow behind the garage.”

“You sent the stuff after I got here.”

Warren shrugged like it was nothing. Rose’s heart warmed. This was her husband. The man he kept separate from his other life and showed just to her. He did sweet and kind things. He talked to her and blew her mind. Before she could stop herself, Rose threw herself into his arms, hugging him tight.

Warren’s heart soared. She was in his arms. There was no better feeling in the world. A few more hurdles, and they could go home. He should probably tell her about the other houses while he was confessing. After he neutralized the person who made the tragic mistake of setting their sights on his family, they could go home to whichever house she wanted.

Chapter 17

“Spill it, sister,” Franny hounded her. “Are you getting back together, or did you take him for one last ride before you turn him out for good? No judgment either way.”

Rose had her hands sunk in a bowl of dough, mixing and kneading as the flour worked its magic. Cookies were cooling on the table, and a cake was in the fridge. Rose was grateful Franny waited until she was mellow enough to talk. Her friend was on her second pot of coffee. Franny’s caffeine intake was the least of Rose’s worries.
