“Good to know chivalry isn’t dead after all,” Rose gulped.

Lucas moaned in pain and rolled over.

“Are you sure he is okay?”

“You are free to get medical attention for him as soon as we settle on payment.”

“How much does he owe?”

“Two hundred and fifty thousand.”

“Two hundred and fifty thousand,” Rose sputtered. “Are you stupid? Have you been out in the sun too long? Why in the hell would you loan him that much money?”

Vulture shot her a menacing look while Cockroach grinned.

Mr. Big and Broad President waived them off. “Not a loan, Rose.”

“If it wasn’t a loan, what was it?”

“Damages.”

“Did you burn down their clubhouse?” Rose shouted as she nudged her brother with her bare foot. When Lucas didn’t answer, she leaned closer to check his pulse. The steady thump under her fingers was reassuring but didn’t do a thing to calm her growing rage. Her brother was lying there bleeding on her floor, letting her take care of his mess. “Answer me, or I will get my bat, and you will have more bruises than you already do.”

“That’s so hot,” Cockroach whistled. “We should take her home with us.”

“Not happening.” Rose flipped him off as she flicked her brother’s broken nose.

“Bikes,” Lucas mumbled.

“How the hell did you do that much damage to a bike? Was it gold plated?”

“Twelve,” he coughed.

“You damaged twelve bikes,” Rose screeched in outrage. Her foot met his stomach before she could stop herself. Lucas coughed and curled tighter around himself. “Not only did you damage twelve bikes from a one percent club, you jackass, you brought them to my house. What were you thinking?” Rose kicked him again. She couldn’t find it in her to feel guilty about the extra jab.

“Prez, are you sure this was a good idea?” Roach asked. “She looks like she is about to finish him off.”

“You, bug boy,” Rose whirled around. “Shut it, or I will beat your ass next.”

Roach grunted and grabbed his crotch. Vulture stood silently watching her.

“No,” Rose shook her head in disgust. “There is no getting turned on. Make it go down, or you will wish you had.”

Roach swallowed hard, tucking his thumbs in his belt buckle. It was a sad attempt to hide the tent in his pants. She counted it as a win that he tried.

“How did he damage twelve bikes?”

“Lucas thought he could hustle a couple guys over a game of darts. When he lost and couldn’t pay up, they took what he owed them out of his face. Your brother decided to get revenge by plowing his truck into a line of bikes parked out front. Our bikes. The dumb ass didn’t realize the bikes didn’t belong to the guys who beat him. Then, he crashed into a light pole in the corner of the parking lot. Cockroach and Vulture helped him out of the truck before the pole fell on it.”

“How could you be so stupid?” Rose snatched the towel off the floor and cracked him across the head with it.

Roach rubbed a hand over his bald head with a look of almost sympathy on his face for her brother.

“How did you end up here?”

“He said you had money and would settle his bill.”

“And you believed him?” Rose rolled her eyes at them. “Do you commit crimes and not get caught, or do you have a wing of the local jail that is reserved for your club? Is it like a lending library where you can check each other in and out as needed?”
