Vulture grabbed his shirt and threw him into the pointed corner of the bar. The wood sank into his chest. The loudmouth gasped for breath and struggled unsuccessfully to get away. Vulture refused to let go. The biker used his weight to pin him there, laughing at his sad attempts to get free.

“Look closely at what she is wearing,” Vulture barked out the order while grabbing a fist full of hair to wrench his head up.

The new guy gurgled a response as he fought for breath.

Before she knew what was happening, Roach was behind the bar by her side. He pulled her braid to the side so their target could have an unobstructed view of her back.

“In case you forgot, that means she is under our protection. You don’t look at her. You don’t talk to her. You sure as hell don’t touch her. You understand me?”

Rose turned around when Roach released her. It was an odd sense of relief when Ladybug didn’t leave her side. He was like a horny guard dog, but one she was grateful to have.

“What the hell is going on here?” Tank roared. “Thorn, what did you do now?”

“For once in my life, it wasn’t me. This guy was-”

“Rosey was doing her job, Prez,” Vulture interrupted. “This little yuppie boy needs to learn how to read because daddy’s money can’t save him all the time.”

“Is that right?” Tank snarled. “Maybe a trip to the cabin will clear up his vision.”

Rose’s breath caught. They were going to take him to the cabin because he hit on her.

“I second,” Roach announced.

A chorus of ayes rang out around her. All she could do was stare as Vulture hauled him out the door. A line of men wearing a cut that matched the one she was given followed them out the door.

“I gotta go make sure Vulture doesn’t kill him. Be a good girl and stay here with Franny.” Roach drew her to his side and tilted her chin until she met his eyes. “Go outside, and Vulture will lose his shit. It will take more than me to get him under control. You don’t want me to have a black eye, do you?”

“What?”

“We’ll stay right here,” Franny assured him. “Go do what you boys do.”

“What are the odds of some cookies when I come back?”

“Slim.”

“But not none.”

“Ladybug.”

“Go,” Franny rolled her eyes.

Rose waited until most of them were out the door. Three men were left behind to guard the entrance.

“Does this happen a lot?”

“That boy has had it coming for a while. He is one of those kids who grew up having everything handed to them. They turn into adults who think they can do whatever they want because they are loaded. His father is loaded. I don’t think that boy has ever held down a job. There isn’t a dollar in his bank account that he can say he actually earned.”

“Huh.”

“I don’t even know what his name is. I think it is Stewart or Robert or something like that. The guys all call him a pretty boy, yuppie kid, or the prissy little bitch.”

“Why is he here if no one can stand him? No offense, but this isn’t the kind of place that his kind would hang out.”

“What, because we don’t have twelve dollar water and overpriced food?” Franny grinned.

“I wasn’t going to say it quite like that, but yeah,” Rose chuckled.

“I have no idea. I asked Tank about it once. He said it was club business.”
