“Baby girl, this is Ben Owen. Ben, this is Angelina, my daughter.”

Angelina stared. She was speechless. Thankfully, none of the things rattling through her brain came out of her mouth. Yes please, was not helpful when her supposed boyfriend was seated at the island.

Ben watched her carefully. The woman was gorgeous and tiny. He had no idea how such a small woman came from the man beside him. He wanted to tuck her to his side and hide her away from the prying eyes in the room. His reaction to her stunned him. There was only one reason. Quinn’s baby girl was his other half. He thought all that love at first sight was bullshit. The proof of how wrong he was stood in front of him. It looked like he had more work to do here than they planned.

Quinn turned toward the man standing at the door. “My room is right through that door.”

Ben disappeared through the door carrying her father’s bag with ease. Holy shit. His back was every bit as impressive as his front. She could hear movement behind her but couldn’t seem to focus. All she could do was watch him walk into her father’s bedroom and hope she didn’t drool.

“Angie, baby girl, I am waiting.”

“What?” She asked absently.

“I am Angelina’s boyfriend,” Jake wrapped his arm around her shoulders while holding his hand out to her father.

“And that one?” Quinn nodded to Max.

“That is Max. He owns a restaurant in town.”

“So instead of taking my baby girl out, you hired a chef to cook for you at home. Are you afraid to take her out?”

“No sir,” Jake replied, not backing down. “Any man lucky enough to get the chance to take Angelina out should give her whatever she wants.”

Quinn nodded his agreement but kept his arms crossed over his chest. Angelina could tell he wasn’t buying it.

“Unfortunately, sweetness is a bit of a workaholic. She has missed three dates, so it was time to think outside the box.”

“Baby girl, are you working too hard?”

“I’m busy, Dad,” Angelina huffed, turning his stubbornness back on him. “I work hard. Wonder where I got that from?”

The only answer she got was a grunt. “Why is my Cheez Whiz out?”

Max coughed as he added more pasta to the sauce simmering on the stove.

“We were playing a game,” Angelina lied. “Kind of like on the TV shows. It is a whammy ingredient. Max loves a challenge.”

Angelina would need to find another one of those bottles of wine to make up for the hated orange stuff going into the pasta.

“Unique date,” Quinn shrugged.

“Join us,” Angelina tugged him toward the dining room. “You can get to know Jake and Max. Then you can tell me all about how you broke your leg and why you aren’t using crutches.”

“I’m going to bunk down in the RV,” Ben interrupted.

“Absolutely not. Have a seat,” Quinn gestured to the chair beside him. “We have a chef in the house tonight. It doesn’t happen often.”

“I don’t want to intrude.”

“Take a seat,” he ordered.

Jake nudged her and pointed toward the kitchen.

Angelina politely excused herself as their guest sat.

“I am not fucking using that,” Max whisper-growled when they entered the kitchen.

“We have bigger problems than cheese in a jar,” Angelina fired back before rounding on Jake. “You told my dad we were dating.”
