“Yup,” he chuckled. “Gotta keep my sexy woman stocked up on the goods.”

“Max…” she protested faintly, but there was a note to her voice that said differently – and he was here for it. “Tell me about this place in Antigua. I do have some stuff scheduled, but I can send you the blocks of dates that I can take and move around a few appointments.”

“That’s perfect. It’s a private resort house with a garden wall. We’d be completely alone, and there is butler service, so they’d bring anything you need. So we wouldn’t even have to leave the place if you didn’t want to.”

“What if I wanted to explore something…”

“How about me?” he said huskily, unable to resist, and closed his eyes at her throaty soft laugh that drove him nuts.

“Maybe…” she drawled softly.

“Don’t tease,” he begged intimately. “I’m a weak man, and you drive me nuts, kitten. I’ve been thinking about all sorts of bikinis the last few days, dreaming of Coppertone, and trying to come up with excuses for having a sunburn in places that shouldn’t ever see the sun.”

Elana laughed easily, making him grin in awareness.

“Sooo,” she said softly. “If we went to this magical paradise together and I packed a bikini or two, a Velma costume, and…”

“Oh, gosh, staaaahp,” he whimpered. “I’m dying over here…”

“It sounds like we have our plans laid out – don’t we?”

“You’d go?”

“Yes.”

“Send me your dates, and I’m booking our trip,” he promised immediately. “We’re gonna have a honeymoon that will make others pale in comparison.”

“But no pressure,” she asked nervously, and he heard the tremor in her voice.

“Never,” he promised and closed his eyes, his shoulders slumping. “This is a trip to make you fall for me – not to pressure you.”

“Max?” she began but he wasn’t sure he was ready for more of a letdown.

“Let’s talk about that dinner,” he said quickly, changing the subject. “They really want to meet you, and apparently all get together to talk. Not sure about what, but they are all pretty close and want to draw you into their fold.”

“Oh.”

“Think of my brother and Eileen… you are just part of a bigger family than you ever knew now, okay? Don’t be nervous or alarmed. My brother works with this guy named Chase, who is the brother of two of the wives. Apparently, Chase was tasked with hunting down Reese to find out why – and I quote – ‘That slacker Inferno is keeping his wife away from us, and we all want to meet her!’. That would be me, the slacker. I mean, seriously? X-Ray and Hot Cakes both know how fast time flies by and the fact that you never want to leave.”

“You’re not a slacker, Max,” she said softly. “You are pretty wonderful, and I really didn’t want to spend your precious time here rubbing elbows with a bunch of other people when we were still getting to know each other.”

“Ya’ just want to rub my elbows – don’t ya?” he taunted knowingly, flirting with her.

“Sure,” she laughed. “We can say that.”

“I knew I had sexy elbows.”

“Oh my gosh…”

Max grinned tenderly, loving the way her laughter rolled over him and filled up every corner of his soul at the sound of it. He wanted to hear her laugh for years and years to come.

“Kitten,” he said softly. “My calling card is counting down, and I have one other, but we aren’t getting another shipment for a few weeks. Do you mind terribly if I get my ‘fix’ next weekend – I’ll call you again. I can use it now but I would rather space it out to ease some of the loneliness…” and she interrupted him.

“Call next week,” she urged quietly. “It gives me something to look forward to.”

“My thoughts exactly.”

“Try to have a good day at work, and feel free to picture me naked,” Max flaunted, hearing her nervous laugh.
