“I’m going to head out,” he began quietly and looked at her. “I’ve already pushed your boundaries and frustrated you – and that is not how I want our relationship to begin.”

“We don’t have one…” she interrupted.

“I’ll come by tomorrow to see you…”

“No,” she interjected, and he ignored her, continuing to speak.

“I want you to trust me, to have a little faith in me, and I want us to become friends during our time together… so I’m leaving now. I won’t touch you. I won’t press you any further, but I will ask you to join me tomorrow night.”

“I already said ‘no’…”

“Then I need to work at changing your mind.”

“Do you not hear what I’m saying? Am I speaking another language?”

“What is your love language?” he countered, looking at her curiously. “I’ve heard of that garbage, but maybe there is something to it. Are you a person who needs ‘good deeds’ to feel romantic? Do you need gifts, a guy who listens, or…”

“Garbage?” she chuckled in disbelief and looked at him in amazement. “You know what – that’s part of a relationship, so figure it out.”

“Oooh, I like it,” he grinned, winking at her. “Playing hard to get? I’m game.”

“Who’s playing?” she retorted, not backing down from his smile.

“Then I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“I already said ‘no’…”

“True – but then you said, ‘figure it out’… which tells me you changed your mind,” he replied openly, as her mouth dropped open in shock before she began laughing again. “I adore your smile – and I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“No, you won’t,” she chuckled.

“We’ll see…” he countered, opening the front door to her house. “Good night – and thank you for a lovely evening.”

Elana watched in disbelief as he started out the front door and turned to face her, walking slowly backward as he waved.

“You’re not even going to try to kiss me after all that garbage?”

“Nope,” he said simply, popping his lips with the ‘P’ to enunciate it.

“I don’t believe you…”

“This is me, dating you. You said you don’t kiss on the first date, and I’m respecting that.”

“We’re not dating – and you just tried to get me to sleep with you, remember?”

“Oh yeah, we are dating. You and I are forever, but we’ve gotta figure out the details.”

“Details? Details? You already said you weren’t marrying me.”

“Are you proposing to me?”

“NO!” she balked, nearly shouting the word before calming herself. “Why would I even do such a thing when I just debated on calling the police on you?”

“See you tomorrow…” he said cheerfully, turning and whistling as he walked to the truck.

“I’m going to be busy – and not available!” she called out.

“You can make time…’
