“That’s right, little lion,” he rasped out. “Let me hear your pretty voice.”

“I hate you.”

He laughed. “Tell me that when you’re not soaking my cock, Kaya.”

I almost passed out due to his pressure on my throat. Mixed with all the anger that had snapped to the surface and the immense pleasure he was giving me, it only brought me over the edge.

He was quick to come right after me, filling me up entirely.

It was then that I realized that he truly meant well for me. He didn’t want me to go for my sake. He was petrified of me dying. Just a glance his way told me that my death would tip him over the edge. I was the only thing he was not ready to lose.

However, Adrik also realized that no matter what he said or did, my decision was firm. This was something I had to do for myself, and I would never forgive him if he even so much as tried to force me out of it.

His despair was my bliss.

That was why, no matter how much I wanted to deny it, we were a match made in Hell. Opposite of one another but pulled toward each other. A painful path that threatened to send us where we belonged: right back to Hell.

TWENTY-TWO

EKATERINA

Everything was ready.

I had four guns prepared and ready to be used at any moment.

My hair was neatly pulled into a high, tight ponytail. It was slicked back because I couldn’t risk a strand falling out and making me lose my focus. The attire was something I’d been dreading, but it had to be done this way: a pair of comfortable pants with sneakers. Yes, I’d decided to ditch my heels for the night and be prepared to run, if necessary, though I highly doubted I’d be the one doing the running.

All of Aleksei’s men had been stationed hours ago. Now, it was our turn to take our spots and wait until Bogdan and his silly little goons appeared. Danila was with me at all times, whilst Davorin was arranging everything else. It took Danila less than an hour to crack under pressure—to tell me all about Davorin’s whereabouts—and Danila made me swear I wouldn’t tell Dominik.

Adrik was heavily ignoring me. He was hell bent on making me change my mind and when his plan fell through, he resorted to ignoring me. Again.

Even after the steamy sex we had in the forest. He helped me get to the car by carrying me for a long time, covering my head with his shirt to prevent me from getting wetter. But he was still not talking to me.

However, it didn’t mean he wasn’t paying attention to my actions. I had to steal Danila’s phone, wait for Adrik to leave, and make two quick phone calls. It took me less than five minutes, but I trembled thinking I’d get caught.

And I was caught. He promised he’d have Felix find who I called. But by the time the sun rose tomorrow, it would no longer be of importance.

“Miss Kaya.” Danila slipped into the room, ever so polite, with a warm smile on his face. “We leave in ten minutes.”

Once he received a small nod, he left me to finish getting ready.

My heart pounded in my chest. It was exciting. After all these years, the day I’d been yearning for had finally came, and I couldn’t have been happier.

I only took a watch with me, and that served as my only communication device. I was given an earpiece but had no intention of using it. I wasn’t stupid, I wouldn’t compromise this opportunity. It was the only one I’d ever get, but I didn’t need Aleksei and Davorin screaming in my ear, especially since I’d decided to pair with Danila.

On the outside, he was like a big, soft teddy bear. On the inside, he was a bloodthirsty monster. He tried to play it off cool and show no excitement, but it was an emotion I could read immediately. Just like me, he hoped this night would end with Bogdan either dead or captured, but also with a lot of fun.

His gentle demeanor threw everyone off. It was a great mask, but he was one of the worst people I’d had the pleasure of meeting. Deep inside, he was evil to the bone—he just knew how to hide it well.

I glanced at myself in the mirror once again.

My tight, all-black outfit fit me perfectly. Although it wasn’t something I’d usually wear, I didn’t hate it. The marks on my neck were almost completely healed; with a little makeup, I was able to mask them fully.

I looked great, given the circumstances.

I was only slightly pissed I didn’t get the chance to see Rhea. She’d called me before I smashed my phone completely, and she was recovering in one of the best hospitals in the city. I was glad, but I’d hoped I would get to see her before all of this went down.

Perhaps it was for the best if she didn’t see me. Knowing her, she’d cry and beg me not to follow through with the plan. No matter how much I wanted to deny it, I cared about her a lot, and seeing her broken was unpleasant.
