“Why two?”

“Because he wants to make sure he won’t be followed. I don’t know all the details.” He paused. By now, he was struggling to breathe properly. “He’s been collecting people, an army, to go against you. It will be split into two. His right-hand man will be at one location, while he will be at the other. After that, their plan will be to just attack headfirst.”

I noticed how intensely Ilya had been staring at him. Undoubtedly, a million theories ran through his mind. He was silent, observing and memorizing every word that came from David’s mouth. Then, once he was positive that he remembered everything, he nodded at me.

“When is all of this going down?”

David’s breathing slowed down, the wounds getting to him. I hissed, lips thinned into a line. I pressed the blade onto his sliced-up dick, forcing another scream of agony from him. “I said, when?”

“In fifteen days, around midnight.”

“Great.”

I had two options here.

I could either plunge the blade deep into his heart. It wouldn’t be as painful, and a quick death was guaranteed. Or I could destroy whatever was left of the man.

Somehow, the latter was more pleasing.

David was blinking slowly. By now, he was a sweaty mess. Blood was everywhere, his sliced-up skin on the floor beneath my feet. His body was covered in his vomit, and the stench slowly filled the basement. It wasn’t a pleasant sight, yet it was what he deserved.

I remembered the acid and the knife and was quick on my feet to grab it. His eyes held so much pain that it was adorable. With a brisk movement, his other eye was gone. Though this one had to sting way more, given the acid was in play.

“Hmm.” I was thinking out loud. “Should I slice his throat or pour the remaining acid all over him?”

Within a moment, Ilya brought the tall glass and handed it over. I chuckled, swirling the liquid a bit. There was terror on David’s face, but he was as quiet as possible. Murmurs and groans here and there, but I could see just how painful it all was.

“You best remember—you touched the wrong man’s woman. See you in hell, bastard.”

The liquid from the glass fell over his hair, down his face and body. Yet again, all I could hear were his cries for help, the pain in his voice, the plea for mercy.

Tossing the items in my hand to the floor, I took off the gloves, threw them aside, and walked outside. Ilya was quick to follow, locking the door behind us.

“Go and tell Dominik about all of this. Kaya and I will be back in New York soon.”

He nodded his head. “He already went back and transferred Rhea.”

“Good. I’ll inform Kaya about all of this. In the meantime, tell Dominik to set up a meeting. Though Kaya will likely attend.”

“She always attends. She likes to stick her nose everywhere.”

“That runs in their family, from what I can tell.”

He was silent, but it didn’t last long.

“That was… brutal. You didn’t even wince at the sight of skin being ripped off his body.”

A loud laugh came from me. “I got used to this long ago. Besides, watching him squirm and beg was fun.”

“Sick bastard.” He mumbled, yet it was loud enough for me to hear. Then he added, “It will be gone by the morning. Our clean-up crew is on standby.”

And their clean-up crew was known for their detailed and precise work. I had no doubts they would get rid of every piece of evidence.

We parted ways in front of Kaya’s room. The two guards that were there were let go for the night after unlocking the door for me.

Thank fuck, she was fast asleep, covered in a thin blanket.

I got in the shower to wash off the stench of blood.
