Dominik was a man whose patience was as thick as the Great Wall of China, and that made him the most dangerous.

Ekaterina was too impulsive and reckless. Aleksei was similar; however, instead of killing immediately, he always thought through how to torture. He was a sadist whose biggest pleasure was seeing people plead and beg for their lives.

However, Dominik was the worst out of the three. It took a lot to push him over the edge. He bottled everything up, but the moment he snapped? I would pray the person who managed to get him to snap would kill themselves because what he would do to them was far worse.

Truth be told, I couldn’t wait for him to lose his shit. It would be fun to watch.

ELEVEN

EKATERINA

Four fucking days.

That was how long Davorin left me chained up like a dog. I spent the first day trying to break free, trashing the entire room in hopes of finding anything useful. His words repeated in my mind like a broken record. He knew I was hiding something.

For the first few hours, I barely managed to calm myself down. It was amusing, then it turned into rage. Blood was boiling in my veins, and I blacked out a few times. Each time I managed to break out of the state I was in, the room was in a worse and worse state.

Mirrors broken; the wall had multiple fist holes; the clothes were torn, scattered all over the floor. However, the last time I woke up, it was all cleaned up. It made me wonder if it had truly happened or if it was a figment of my imagination.

The missing mirror and the holes in the wall were the only indicator that I actually did it.

“Good morning.” My eyes snapped towards the door. “If this isn’t a pretty sight.”

I laughed. Nothing was funny, but the laughter was unstoppable. “Hi, puppy.”

Now, it all made sense.

He had a plate filled with hot food in one hand and a bottle of cold water in the other. My stomach growled, and my mouth watered at the sight.

“I’m assuming you’re hungry.” He slowly placed the contents from his hands on the small dresser, too far from me, as if he was afraid.

“Bring it to me.”

“Nope.” He sighed. “I’d rather not approach you.”

I glanced at his cheek. The wound I’d inflicted was almost gone, but a red mark was visible. It was enough to leave a small scar. Puppy would look adorable in scars. Before I could indulge in a fantasy of him being covered in blood and scars, I shook my head.

“That’s smart,” I noted. Slowly, I got up from the bed; my annoyance grew the louder the chains echoed. With each step I took, Felix took a step back. “You can leave now.”

To say I inhaled the food would be an understatement. It was gone in the blink of an eye. The water followed suit and then I lay in bed, nauseous. I hadn’t eaten for a while and since I’d barely chewed on the meat before swallowing, it took a toll on my stomach.

I turned my head to the side, staring at the metal rod next to me. The bed had four metal rods that were impossible for me to break apart, which meant I was unable to remove the shackles. This bed was chosen because of how big it was, and the rods were supposed to hold those cute curtains. However, when I was setting this place up, I was in a rush and forgot about the details.

And Adrik took advantage of that.

Bastard.

Somehow, I managed to doze off. My mind was blank. I didn’t have nightmares for a while. Then again, I couldn’t remember the last time I got more than five hours of sleep without passing out from anger or alcohol.

I didn’t like dreaming. Oftentimes, it started out nicely enough, then it turned into a vivid torment. It was as if I could feel it, as if I was living through all of it again. Davorin chaining me angered me mainly because I didn’t want to relive those days chained in Bogdan’s prison. But I felt surprisingly safe.

I was sane enough to admit that his views often came out strong. Extreme, even. I didn’t mind it. Time after time, it caught me by surprise. And the anger never seemed to last. He was the reason behind all the anger recently, but he was also the reason that fury seemed to vanish.

It had gotten darker quicker than I anticipated. I opened the window of the bedroom before returning to bed, bored out of my mind.

Up until fifteen minutes ago, Felix was downstairs. He was on the phone with someone but was too far for me to hear it. Then, he was silent. I assumed he’d gone to sleep, given that it was almost midnight.

“Can’t sleep?”
