“What’s in the box?”

I put it on the bed and opened it. “Close your eyes. I have a surprise for you.”

Ekaterina was reluctant. Her eyes squinted as she tried to glance inside of the box but couldn’t. Then, with an eye roll and a deep sigh, she listened.

It was action time.

It wasn’t as quiet as I’d anticipated, but she was listening, and not once did she open her eyes. It took me a few minutes to set everything up. Slowly, I took her hand and guided her to sit on the bed. Then, it clicked into place.

Her eyes opened immediately. “What the fuck is this?”

Kaya’s eyes widened as she dangled chains that were tied to her wrists. They were long enough for her to be able to move to the bathroom, but that was it. I had them personally made for her, and they couldn’t be taken off without a special key that I had in my car. There was no chance of her escaping.

Fury overtook her face. She glanced at the box, then returned her harsh stare to me. “Is this why you insisted on taking your car?”

I blinked. “Your car is pink. I’d rather slit my throat and choke on my own blood than ever be seen driving a hot pink car.”

Her pale hands were shaking. It didn’t surprise me when she laughed. It was diabolical, sadistic, and threatening. The look in her eyes—she wanted to skin me alive, and that made my cock twitch. I wanted nothing more than to fuck that expression off her face, but I had no time to do that. Not right now, at least.

“Take these off.” Her voice was soft. “Right now.”

I tilted my head to the side. “And risk you running away? No. I have to meet someone, and I don’t trust you.”

Her lips thinned. “If I wanted to run away, I never would’ve brought you with me. I could’ve left you in Texas.”

“All the more reason not to trust you.” I approached her, and she pushed herself back, trying to get away from me. It was adorable that she thought she could ever escape my claws. “You’re hiding something from me. I don’t know what it is, but, until you decide to tell me, you’re stuck here.”

Ekaterina slapped me, and the clank of chains filled the room as she removed her palm from my cheek. “You’re insane if you think that I’m going to sit still and wait for you to return. What if I get hungry?”

I laughed. “Don’t worry, little lion. That puppy you like so much will take care of you.” I paused as I stood up. “Although, I’m not sure how pleasant his company will be, given that you opened fire at him. Good luck.”

“Burn in hell, asshole.”

I grinned.

I turned around and left the room, laughing as her cussing followed me. I whisked out my phone and called Felix. The moment Kaya had kicked him out, he was on standby, begging me not to force him anywhere near her again. Sadly, he was paid for his troubles and couldn’t say no.

And that was all the fun she would get in the next few days while I was away.

“Get her some food. Preferably chicken.”

Felix groaned. “I’m babysitting again? She will kill me, for real this time.”

“If you act like the puppy she expects you to be, then she won’t kill you. Be good, and don’t piss her off too much. Otherwise I might kill you.”

For a minute, he remained silent. He couldn’t refuse it but was definitely not happy about it either. “Fine.”

I was on the next flight back to New York.

I didn’t contact either of the brothers until I landed.

Contacting Aleksei would’ve been the smarter option in the long run. However, since he was rather impulsive and I had no time to put up with his tantrums, I called Dominik.

Our usual meeting place was Aleksei’s home, but we decided on Himeros this time. We’ve met there a couple of times when we needed to avoid Aleksei’s eyes. Currently, it was under construction since Rhea Karalis had taken over the family business, but it was open to anyone of the Kalashnik family at all times. It was private and had a great alcohol selection.

I arrived first, and the door was unlocked. It was strange. Usually, one of Rhea’s men would be inside and would wait outside until we were finished. Inside at the bar was none other than the Greek princess herself.

“Davorin.” Her tone was filled with spite. It didn’t take a genius to figure out she hated my guts. She’d openly told me so the last time I was there. “I was really hoping you would be late.”
