“Um…say what?”

She rounded the vehicle and got in, cranking the engine before I even put one foot in. I scrambled inside and stared at her as she shifted into reverse and slammed on the gas. I held on for dear life, wondering who this woman was. She carried a gun, she dressed like the best kind of sinner, and she had the most beautiful smile I’d ever seen. Not to mention the huge bed waiting for me in her hut.

“Devemos ir ver aquele que foi mordido pelo cobra?” Should we go and see the one who was bitten by the snake?

“Uh…yes,” I nodded, not having a clue what she just said.

“E depois de resgatá-los, podemos terminar seu trabalho.” And after rescuing them, we can finish your work.

“You’re so beautiful,” I muttered, awe-struck by this gorgeous woman.

She smiled at me, shifting gears again as we headed out into the jungle.

“Você está babando em todo o meu veículo.” You’re drooling all over my vehicle.

“Yes, anything you want. I’ll do it.”

“Se eu dissesse que queria que você atirasse em um inimigo, você faria isso por mim?” If I told you I wanted you to shoot an enemy, would you do it for me?

I nodded vigorously. “Yes, anything you want.”

Her smile lit up my world and sent a little ball of fire straight into my chest. Her eyes flittered back to the road as she adjusted herself in her seat. I was in love with the most beautiful warrior princess in the world. I could already imagine taking her home and having lots of little babies with her. We’d call them Rob and Amazon Lady…or something a lot more clever than that. Hell, all the blood was rushing to my dick right now. I wasn’t thinking clearly.

“É melhor você esperar. As coisas estão prestes a ficar loucas.” You better wait. Things are about to get crazy.

“Right, and then we’ll go back to your hut and make lots of babies,” I said, completely awestruck.

She grinned at me and pressed her foot down on the gas. I didn’t even hear the gunfire as I stared at that beautiful face. And then everything went to hell.

CHANCE

Sweat dripped down my face as I laid down in the muck of the Amazon jungle. We’d been in position for the last three days, pissing and shitting right where we were. We couldn’t afford to move and blow our cover. We were so close to finding the amulet.

When we took this job, we thought we were recovering a gemstone, not some fucking mystical gem that the locals felt held the power of all time. That’s what had taken us so long to find it. Apparently, half the world wanted to get their hands on this thing. Why Rafe wanted it was beyond me. If he actually believed this thing would help him win the war against The Syndicate, he was batshit crazy.

“I fucking smell,” Jackson whispered through comms.

“You think this is bad? You should have smelled me the year I was missing,” I muttered.

“I should have brought Vittoria along,” Gabe said. “She would have been in and out in five minutes.”

“And your wife would have killed you.”

“All I know is my balls are sitting in scum,” Jackson hissed. “Literal scum. I think I prefer the desert to this shit.”

I knew where they were both located, but they had hidden well along both sides of the road. I was stationed to the side of the hut, back in the trees. None of the locations were particularly great, but mine was slightly less shaded than Gabe and Jackson’s, which meant fewer bugs.

“We just have to wait it out a little longer.”

“That’s what you said three days ago,” Jackson snapped.

“We haven’t checked in with Cap in weeks,” Gabe retorted. “They probably think we’re dead.”

“Well, it hasn’t exactly been a picnic,” I snorted. “Who knew finding this amulet would lead to a wild goose chase?”

“There,” Gabe hissed.
