“Fair enough.” I shrug my shoulders and direct Cole back toward his tattooing supplies. “Get going, bunny. We need to hit the road soon.”

“Yuck!” Becca covers her ears. “I’m out of here.”

I smirk. I think I’ll miss her.

Two hours later, we stand in front of the mansion. I smile, watching Cole have a mini breakdown. Now that things have settled, he’s not that same unhinged psycho we had to deal with when he found out Becca was still alive. I hope this doesn’t send him back to that obnoxious version of himself. Even if I still love every side of him.

“Keep a weapon on you at all times,” Jasper instructs Becca, then he turns his attention to me. “Raven and I have something for you.”

She reaches for the box I hold out for her and lifts the lid off. Inside is a switchblade, the same type of stun gun I used on Scott—my first kill, oh what fond memories—and a matching gun to the one I love so much.

Jasper wanted to make sure she was armed before we left, but I wasn’t about to let him give another woman weapons. That’s our thing. He made a good point, though, and I picked out only the best for my sister.

“Thank you!” she gushes, throwing her arms around me. She knows better by now not to touch my guys aside from Cole. Even then, I might reach for a knife. My inner beast can’t be tamed. She smacks a kiss on my cheek and steps away quickly.

“Remember, it’s better to kick an attacker in the balls and run if given the opportunity,” Vander says before moving to the driver’s side of the SUV. At some point, someone will switch with him. We have over twenty hours of driving and that doesn’t include any bathroom breaks. It might be a long time before we’re ready to fly again.

While the other guys were giving Becca lessons, they were giving some to Grayson as well. But she was secretly teaching Grayson the skills he’ll need to help us on assassinations from afar. Honestly, everything has been a real family affair since we found her. Learning to mesh together seamlessly.

“Stay safe, Becca.” Grayson gives her a head nod and leaves for the vehicle as well.

“I think you should come with us,” Cole grumbles. He stands with his arms crossed and stares her down like he could ever intimidate her. It’s cute.

Becca gives a soft laugh and steps forward. She pats his cheek and says, “I’ve told you what I’m willing to do. Don’t try to cage me again, Brother. It won’t end well for you.” Then she wraps her arms around him, giving him a tight hug.

After a second, he shimmies his arms out from between them and returns the hug. “Never disappear on me again, Becca. I can’t handle the thought of it, let alone a reality where it happens a second time.”

“I’ll be safe. I promise,” she soothes him, but I know it’ll be a long ass time until that gripping fear releases its hold on him.

She then gives me a hug, all soft and comforting when I’m practically a stiff board. I may have learned to accept affection from my men, but I’m still a work in progress. “Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. I couldn’t have survived his suffocating protectiveness without you.”

“I’ll always be here for you, Becca. I’m only a call away.” I run my hand over her hair, then pat her on the back. Like I said, a work in progress.

Cole and I climb into the back seat, and Vander drives down the private road. It feels like the first chapter of our lives is coming to a close. And while I could be mournful over it, I’m not, because I know we’re moving on to the next one.

Chapter 26

Raven

Grayson lazily trails his fingers through my hair as I cuddle into him on the couch. The end credits scroll across the giant screen in our media room, yet I find myself too relaxed to move. Nothing like watching a movie full of action and murder to put me in a blissful state.

“You excited for tomorrow?” he murmurs into my hair.

It took a long time to find Jasper’s mom, and even longer for Becca to catfish her—I wasn’t about to let one of my men do it, and my sweet sister volunteered when she found out it was TB’s mom. The woman thinks she’s coming to meet her online beau—the self made real estate billionaire. But tomorrow is the day. I’ll finally make good on my promise to kill Jasper’s mom.

“Of course I am. It’s been like two weeks since I’ve had any bloody fun.” I tilt my head so I can see him. “It reminds me of the time we took out your dad.”

He smiles at me, warm and loving, the kind that makes my toes curl. “Are you happy here, Remi?”

His question throws me off, and I have to move to straddle him, wanting a better angle to stare him in the eye. The moment my ass settles on his lap, his hands grasp my waist and tugs me flush against him. I can’t help but rock myself against the hardness I find between my legs.

“Why would you ask such a silly question?” I run my finger along his forehead, moving the short hairs barely brushing his skin, continuing on until I hold his chin in my hand and tilt his head back. “I’m with you, aren’t I?”

“I just mean this house. The life we’ve built here.” His gaze traces over my face, taking in every little hint of emotion.

“You did an amazing job picking out our home. Nailed everything on the must have list.” I tease my lips over his before pressing a light kiss against them.

While I love surrounding myself with luxury, I was hard pressed to involve myself with the mundane task of sifting through listings and handling a real estate agent. Grayson volunteered to find us the perfect place, and he really did secure everything we wanted. It’s what he filled his time with while we hunted down and brutally killed members of TB’s network of traffickers.
